  1. I bought a pair of apistgramma cacatuiodes last Sunday. Been years since I played with any cichlids, and these are more mellow than past experiences. Beautiful fish.
  2. Floating water sprite provides food and protection for my platies and endlers
  3. I conducted a severe thin of my watersprite in my endler tank. Oh my, there are so many babies of different sizes, Did a deep vacuuming of the gravel and a major water change in the process. Dropped a pair of nickel sized mystery snails to help with glass maintenance, In my black and white tank, I did a 20% water change
  4. It may sound different, but I use water sprite. I just dont anchor it. I leave it floating. Grows fast and creates quite a jungle to help fry survive, as well as harbors infusoria so they dont need to compete against other fish to eat
  5. Sounds like my endlers tank....
  6. They are albino bristlenose. Mom is locally bred, dad is from California
  7. First time with baby plecos. My grandson was watching fish and he noticed them. I only counted 5, but I'm estatic
  8. Go with easier, more forgiving, and cheaper fish. Livebearers, common tetra varieties, etc. Watch lots of YouTube. I wish there was a Youtube when I started
  9. I just squeeze it out with old aquarium water, Gets rid of gunk, but maintains healthy bacteria
  10. May sound silly, but I'm trying to grow harvestable amounts of Java Moss to sell to LFS along with my livebearers
  11. As you get them into shape, Check out the youtube videos by KeepingFishSimple. That Aussie kid is pretty good and entertaining.
  12. My "shy guys" are the albino plecos. but most shy is the assassin snail
  13. My LFS has rolls of aquarium background of all varieties. My 20L uses a black background that is reversible to go to dark blue. I prefer the dark backgrounds because it gives the tank a sense of depth, and it allows the colors of the fish to pop
  14. I always keep a 6gallon ready for emergency medical or to protect a baby from cannibalism. Even without licestock I keep it going with plants substrate, etc
  15. Back up heaters because of their relative short life I would like to get plant tools ...and probably food
  16. I cut the grass. Did a Major pruning of my water sprite in my Endlaer tank. Partial water change. Also my platy tank got a partial water change.
  17. My best guess is that it was a three spot rasbora that had an egg from a piece of water sprite. Too small to photograph
  18. About two weeks ago, I found out one of my platys gave birth. Naturally I only saved one baby before the natural cannibalism. Tossed him into a breeder for protective custody. After a few days, he was looking pretty confined and lonely so I put him into my bathroom 6gal tank that only houses Gary, a blue mystery snail. Last night I was checking on him and feeding him, and I discovered a new fish. I really don't know where he came from since that's an isolation tank. It's too small to tell what he is, but he's active, an eater, and swims hard into the bubble stream. Time will eventually reveal what he is, but as usual, every new baby is exciting. By the way, that platy tank does have 5 fry that are bravely swimming unmolested with its parents. Happy days in the hobby
  19. Why not get setup to hatch BBS? Always a fan favorite of my fish
  20. I get excited every time, even if it's my endler brood or spying a surviving platy. The thrill is always there
  21. great set-up. Looks nice. What are you planning to stock?
  22. I know, I just thought they were real cool, and my grandkids (fish keepers in training) loved them
