  1. Good to know the tank I’m going to be heating is a 29 gallon with a lid.
  2. Can I get some more reply’s on this topic cause I’m really trying to figure this out. thanks 🙂
  3. Thanks for the great reply I just saw a YouTube video from prime time Aquatics talking about how great the Ehimes are and since you’ve been using them for 16 years I got to try them. Also Would you follow the 5 watts per gallon rule?
  4. Thanks for the in depth reply this has really helped! The thermal cling tip is also great I’ve never heard of that. Are the fluval heaters you were talking about the E series ones with the led screen? And do you know if the Ehime jager heaters are good?
  5. I know the co ops heater just came out and I’d love to get it but I’m in Canada. So I was wondering what the next best most reliable heater is? Something that would last a really long time and have less of a chance of malfunctioning? Cause I know a lot of the ones that used to last a long time were discontinued 😞
  6. Did it ever have problems starting up after powering off like the aquaclears do?
  7. Thanks this really helped If you were to use a hob filter what brand would you go with that won’t run into this problem.
  8. Its the green tropica one with nitrogen and phosphate. I have 8 white cloud minnow, a neon blue stiphodon goby and like 5 cherry shrimp. I’ll probably just get the store to test it just to be safe but that might be true.
  9. Yeah I was thinking of getting the store to test it.
  10. Yeah that’s the thing it doesn’t start up unless I service it each week.
  11. I have an aquaclear 20 and every time I do a water change and try to start it back up (filled with water of course) It doesn't start and I have to fettle around with the impeller and sometimes clean it just to get the thing to start. Its really annoying me and I don't know how or if I can fix this. has anyone had this problem before? Its making me wish I got a tidal filter instead. 😞
  12. I'm testing my water to see if I can do less water changes but my nitrates say 0. I'm using the API master test kit, I've tested twice shaking the bottle for a long time and hard just to make sure it works and it still says 0. I'm dosing tropica ferts every day, so I should be seeing nitrates I'm dosing that amount because I have fast growers (elodea, Limnophila sessiliflora and floating salvinia) and I have a low amount of co2 (1 bubble every 2 seconds) the tank is a 10 gallon and I'm doing 50% water change once a week. I want to do less water changes to make my life easier but I don't know if I can because I'm not sure if I really have 0 nitrates or if the test kit is broken. All my plants are doing amazing and have no deficiencies and my fish are healthy. Also I'm planning on switching over to the Nilocg thrive fertilizer because its more concentrated and I wouldn't have to dose as much. Water parameters in case you where wondering: PH: 7.6, Ammonia: 0, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 0
  13. This answered some questions I had but how does this thing compare to the Fluval E series heaters?
  14. If it’s dean approved it has to be good. I’ll probably buy some once you guys can eventually ship to Canada.
  15. I hope everything works out and good luck with tank!
  16. Welcome to the forum! Your tank looks nice can’t wait to see what it will look like grown in! The sword might be a red flame sword but I’m not sure. The fish I would pic for that tank would be guppies cause they look really colourful and they breed so easy! you could start with a trio (2 females, 1 male) and if you do guppies make sure there’s dense plants for the babies to hide in. For the snails I would go with nerite snails they seem to be the best algae eaters and I think guppies might eat the eggs so you don’t have to worry about seeing them. Also the nerites just have cool patterns. Good luck with the tank and I hope this helped a bit.
  17. Ok like I said you could do pencil fish they have many different types and go well with apistos Or hatchet fish would work well if you picked the small type.
  18. I’m not sure because it depends on the tank size but if you only have a 20 gallon tank you could do pencil fish they are a great tank mate for apistos. But if you have a big tank you could probably have most top water schooling fish, just don’t pick any bottom dwellers.
  19. ill be checking out your future updates, I wish I could set up some ponds but I'm moving in 2 months 😞. I've only set up one pond so I'm not experienced but I've heard its good to fertilize the plants at the beginning but once you got fish in there and your feeding the fish you wont need a fertilizer and when I set up my pond I never used ferts and the plants grew like 5x as big as they were when I got them. I hope this helped 🙂
  20. the cannas are beautiful and have amazing flowers but I wouldn't do one again because the more it grows it gets really top heavy and can fall over with the slightest amount of wind. also with the the pots I would recommend using a heavier dirt, don't use anything super light cause it will float through the gravel and I just placed the pots on top of upside down pots for Hight. if you have any more questions ask away. 🙂
  21. If you do use sand in one of your tanks I suggest you use a coarse type sand. Cory said in one of his videos he uses sand but only the really coarse types.
