  1. Hi everyone! I recently found out that Se monkeys are just large Brine shrimp, so here's my question: Are Sea monkeys a better feeder than regular Brine Shrimp. Can fish even eat them?
  2. I've heard Ghost Shrimp will eat black beard algae, might try those!
  3. Hi everyone! I recently found out my Longear Sunfish enjoys eating Ghost Shrimp, and they're the perfect size for him! So, here's my question: Does anyone know where I could buy frozen shrimp that are Ghost Shrimp sized? I figure it'd be great extra protein and calcium for him, as well as spice up hi diet. If you can, send me a link to any products that you might know, thx!
  4. That'd be pretty cool for a 40-gallon planted African tank! Maybe a shoal Nannaethiops unitaeniatus with some Aplocheilus panchax!
  5. @mountaintoppufferkeeper and @Biotope Biologist, I was never referring to Pea Puffers, we've already decided against them. I'm asking if there is any species of puffer that could live in a 5 gallon, any.
  6. may have parasites; I'd recommend treating him with Fritz Paracleanse
  7. Hi everyone! my mom seems to be fond of puffers, and she currently has an empty 5 gallon, so my question is this: Is there any species of puffer that can live comfortably in a 5 gallon?
  8. Hi everyone! Today I got an interesting question for yall that applies to the hobbies, especially if ur helping out beginners first: A person who has no experience keeping fish asks what's the best starter fish. What fish do you recommend? Personally, I'd say WCMMs and Bettas are the two best options imo.
  9. I think that's just its coloring mate.
  10. I personally use an Aquaclear on my 75, seems to do the trick!
  11. you seem to like cichids, so I'd recommend looking into Andinoacara pulcher, or Blue Acaras.
  12. whatever it is, I'm sure ur fish will eat it!
  13. well, I have pond snails in my qt to keep some bacteria alive, but I'd recommend just putting in small amounts of fish food and letting the bacteria eat that.
  14. currently living in Southeast Missouri, but I lived most of my life in the Houston are of Texas!
  15. it may just be a shift in scenery that spooked them. They'll get used to it. The only other thing I can think of is diseases carried by the plant, so I guess keep an eye on them either way.
  16. good to know they don't hate each other. Here in Missouri, usually the state just tells people to do research before they keep any wild-caught animals as pets.
  17. @Biotope Biologist, the MDC seems to not have any reports of Slender Madtoms, or Noturus exilis, being invasive in my area. I usually only see them at midnight at the creek, so it makes sense. I have brine shrimp and other frozen foods, so as long as it'll eat those, I should be fine. Hopefully I can one day convert it to pellets like I did with my Bullhead. Thx for the info! Do you know they're behavior when kept together?
  18. @H.K.Luterman, I plan on starting an aquarium journal soon anyway, once I can provide better quality pictures, so I'll make usre to record the Madtom's life as well!
  19. Hi everyone! I recently had an idea to collect some madtoms from a nearby creek and put them in my tank (dw, the species in my area has healthy populations.) So, my question is this: Does anyone have experience with Madtoms? If so, dump as much info on me as u can, thx!
  20. Another question, is there any Paradise fish species that could work? I should rlly just say I'm looking at getting some species of Anabantid rlly.
  21. @Kathy F, I'm not doing Dwarfs simply because there's too much conflicting info on them, and I've heard they can be jerks. I might do sparkling gouramis, though Honeys are more of what I want since they're slightly larger. @laritheloud, I originally thought that species was too big, but I also thought that kuhlis would be too big, so I might get a labiosa if they have them at my stores. If not, I'll stick to either honeys or Sparklings.
  22. with the setup I gave you, I wouldn't recommend it, but I can give you one where it could: 10 Black Widow Tetras 1 Angelfish 1 Bristlenose Pleco. Bristlenose only get about 5 inches, so they're the best option for beginner plecos.
  23. yeah, that was definitely overstocked, plus, Mollies should be in groups no less than 6. If ur looking for better stocking options, I'd recommend 10 Harlequin Rasboras (hardy schooling fish) 1 Honey Gourami (much better option than a Dwarf Gourami) 10 Kuhli Loaches (bottom-dwelling catfish ur kid will love) Make sure to have a heater for this, and I'd highly recommend plants. They'll lessen the chance of algae growing.
  24. as long as you got a larger species, like A. agassizii, you should be fine.
