  1. Ya I’m gonna get some other items. Going to need a brine shrimp hatchery also. I’ve spent so much money what’s the difference lol
  2. The door shims work great with the testing I did. Any thoughts of leveling for the rack shelves?
  3. What about it? It’s like a 1/8 an inch discrepancy enough to not be good long term. What about flooring underlayment?
  4. Some spoils forgot the spool of airline!
  5. First of 4 racks in my small fish room. Minor garage slope. any problem with using door shim on two of the legs to get it close to plum? secondly obviously buying 23 aqueons the 10s are absolutely perfect and with minor rack imperfections I want to do foam for each shelf. Where do you guys get your leveling material?
  6. I tried seeing if I could live with it but I can’t. I need to make 4 racks only 2 with dado cuts. This will give me an opportunity to get tighter dados
  7. Yup same I have a guy but it didn’t make sense on my hobby room plus I don’t care that much lol
  8. I return to work Monday. I’ve probably spent 40 hours working on this or more. I generally work 55-60 a week so time is of the essence LOL. I’ve learned a TON and it’s been quite the experience. I loved doing the electrical and that’s where I made sure I was dead accurate.
  9. Ohhh ya. Painted went for speed this isn’t the Sistine Chapel. Coverage was good, my mudding skills has tons of room for improvement lol
  10. I went with 10 on the first rack I built it was a mistake LOL. My math was bad. It leaves like 4 inches between the ceiling and the rim of the top aquarium. I can live with 8. Thankfully 2x4 is down to 4.69 here
  11. For anyone following I was able to get 2 racks on my wall that is slightly more than 7 feet. Rather than doing a center support on a 7 foot rack I felt more confident in having a rack that was 4 tens wide and a second that is 3 tens wide. My dado cuts aren’t crazy tight but not enough in my mind to be an issue. The one or two that were a concern I was able to shim in a sliver with a hammer that came from the cut itself. I predrilled holes and I’m sinking in some real Good fasteners. I may use wood glue. I intend on staining them rather than painting black. I forgot to take pictures but there will be more. Here’s my helper
  12. Painting one thick coat and calling it good. Hope to work on stands tonight
  13. Nothing is super precise but my vision is clear. What I spent the most research on and nagging members was electrical. Turns out, wiring my room was the most fun. I’m 75% completed. Budget build and well 2 grand into it. Glad lumber has come down. I would of ran the top plates on the rafters if I can go back but my walls are sturdy and sound. I did spray foam to account for the slope and called it good. insulation was fun
  14. Found out today I’m not a drywall finisher LOL. My mud job was awful. Decided I’m going with a distressed look LOL. Going to paint tonight
  15. Went with a light gray. I’m only painting the back and bottom panel. I’m doing mostly bare bottom
  16. Went with 10. Got 6 boxes from you today Cory pretty exciting
  17. Thanks for the response. I was hoping to get a 4 shelf in but it would be too tight. Going to leave room for storage up top
  18. Between the top of an aquarium and the rail of the next rack, how much space should I go for? 10 inches?
  19. How much space should I go with between the aquarium and the next rail? 10 inches?
