  1. Which method would you use for a new aquarium? Drip acclimation and straight into the new tank or keeping them in a quarantine tank?
  2. I will soon be preparing to set up my new 29 gallon aquarium. In preparation I want to run my new canister filter (in my existing 20 high) to establish my bacteria. Am I correct in assuming that I shouldn't have the carbon media in it? I'm planning on replacing it with a combination of bio balls and ceramic rings.
  3. Is there a shelf life on test kit reagents? I bought my kit in 2016.
  4. I use distilled white vinegar. It will help cut scale (hard water) and will completely evaporate. Since it's distilled there's no harsh chemicals. I like to give it a full day to make sure that it's completely gone.
  5. I amend organic potting soil with ground egg shells (calcium), ground banana peels (potassium) and flourite red. I recently watched a Father Fish video and he adds Epsom Salt (magnesium). Any other suggestions on what to add to my substrate to promote plant growth and health?
  6. Excellent! Thank you!
  7. Can you control the spread of vallisneria?
  8. I have ordered a 29 gallon acrylic aquarium. I definitely am going to dirt it and plant it. I have a piece of driftwood about 10 inches high by about 12 inches across with 5 branches that I am going to turn into a tree using Anubias Nana Petite. I also have several pieces of granite that I'm currently using in my 20 high. I also have an 8x8x2 red stone. All came from a beach and have been boiled. For stocking I plan on the following: 20 Neon Tetras 02 Bristlenose Plecos 02 Reticulated Hillstream Loachs 04 Kuhli Loachs 06 Sterbai Corydoras 03 Electric Blue Acaras Thoughts please?
  9. I have Dwarf Sagittaria. I will be transferring some from my existing 20 to my new 29. Definitely no CO2. I live on a remote island in Southeast Alaska and to get CO2 here would be extremely expensive.
  10. What are the effects of carpeting an aquarium on corydoras, bristlenose plecos and kuhli loaches?
  11. Thank you. I was definitely not planning to clean the media in my canister. It sounds like it would be a good idea to get the canister up and running in the 10 gallon for the duration of the build.
  12. Hello. I kinda let things go and will soon be rebuilding my 20 gallon high. It's presently a dirted tank and I plan to use this method again. I plan to move my angelfish and my corydora to a 10 gallon for the rebuild. My plan is to use my existing water, split between the rebuild and the 10 gallon since it has established bacteria. I plan on getting the rebuild done in 6-8 hours. How long should I wait before moving my fish back into the 20 gallon tank?
  13. Thank you for being here to answer questions.
