  1. you want some sort of bag or container for it. #1 you want to be able to rinse it before you add it, and #2 you want to be able to remove it.
  2. i think many people do something similar. if it were me id get a big rubbermaid type of trash can, and a simple sump pump. drain tank water into trash can, sump pump kicks on and pumps water out to where ever your hose goes.
  3. 2-3 years is about normal, and assuming yours had at least 3-6 months on them when you got them, they are falling right in that window.
  4. she is doing a fish in, no ammonia should be added. time to start upping the stocking level slowly.
  5. the brownish water is tannins from the piece of wood. over time with water changes, it will clear up.
  6. i think they dropped them. nice pumps, but quite a few failures.
  7. normal, all woods have sap in it (sap is basically sugar) so its a bacterial bloom eating that. can take from a week to a few months , but it will go away.
  8. id see if you could shorten the stand a few inches. 100% needed, no. i feel it would long term be better though.
  9. stocking a 150, tons of choices all dependent on your preferences. what do you like?
  10. there was one on the forum here a while back really bloated, like twice as big as yours. salt was the cure.
  11. he was actually really cool with it, until you tried to pick him up out of the water, then the fight was on, and everything got wet.
  12. its not best for them as mentioned they have a slime coat that helps prevent infections etc. now having said that years ago i had a gar that always refused to get out of the way when i was cleaning and id have to grab him and move him, but i didnt go out of my way to do it.
  13. guppy's are like a box of chocolates, ya never quite know what youre going to get .
  14. water changes are really needed based on water quality and fish health. IMO the once a week water change is usually much more than needed.
  15. assassin snails are pretty good at eliminating pest snails.
