jefferz
What time do you guys change your water? Immediately after the lights come on? After a couple hours of the lights being on? Towards the end of your light cycle?

Daniel
No particular time. I have done it in the dark, but that always leaves me a bit queasy about what may or may not have gone down the python.
Ken Dyer
I find water changes to be soothing, so they tend to happen when: I see an issue with a tank or its inhabitants I need to catch fish out of the tank I am stressed out and need to chill The water temp is climbing/dropping outside of the range I want (rare but has happened and helped) Not sure all of these are the best reasons, I would love to add "when the water tests indicate I need to" but I tend to be a lazy water tester unless something seems off or I am curious as to how "that tank over there is doing after a year"
MickS77
At my convenience, no particular time. I don't think the fish mind either way.
Maggie
I do mine some time between 7am and noon. Plus I do a 2x daily small change on the uncycled quarantine tank. Later on in the day my back starts hurting too much.
Tanked
No set time. Usually early morning morning, because I never stop at just changing the water.
Hobbit
I tend to feel best in the evenings so I almost always change water about an hour after I feed them, around 7:30. I’m usually racing to finish before their lights turn out. 😄 I think the fish probably benefit a little from some kind of routine, but I don’t think it’s that important. DaveSamsell
Typically, I would change water very early in the morning. Seems like the fish are still half asleep and they don't seem to mind that much. Am trying to limit my water changes, in general, by testing, adding plants and re-mineralizing accordingly. So far it's working very well.
kammaroon
I do mine in afternoon just to make sure the ambient light is good. Especially if I do the occasional water testing before the water change, I find natural light much easier to compare the colours on the charts.
