Overheated pygmy corydora tank in Washington!

[Just a Pygmy Corydora]

There is a huge heat wave in Washington right now, and the tank is 87 degrees, should I put in ice cubes? What should I do?? We do not have an air conditioner, we only have two small fans. If anyone would please reply ASAP, then I would greatly appreciate your help! 😃

id have a fan blowing across the top, and float a frozen water bottle in the tank.

Same here. I turned all the lights off and have a fan at full speed moving the air. No AC either, and we have not hit the warmest part of the day yet. 😵

lower the water by a few inches if you can.

Add extra airstones even though they can gulp air it will help them and reduce their stress level a bit. I would not put ice in but you could do a continuous series of cooler not ice cold just a few degrees cooler than current tank temp  water changesvof 5-10% re adding the water slowly

I floated an ice pack in my guppy tub. It helped, the tub didn’t get over 83.

Add air stones to increase evaporation (natural cooling) and run a fan to blow air over the tank.

 

Make sure that the heater is unplugged, as you don't want the heater to come on accidentally.

No pygmy cories don't leap out, they only dart to the surface. But if you wanted lowering the water level would certainly not hurt.
