  1. Hi, I have 2 tanks with guppies and i live in the Mediterranean area. Due to high room temperatures reaching 35 °C i am struggling to keep the water temperature between the recommended 27 ~ 29 °Celcius. In fact earlier today one of the tanks displayed a temperature of 32°C. Now i managed to surround the tanks with ice packs and reduced it to about 29~29.5°C. Is there anything else i can do? Thanks Carmen
  2. There is a huge heat wave in Washington right now, and the tank is 87 degrees, should I put in ice cubes? What should I do?? We do not have an air conditioner, we only have two small fans. If anyone would please reply ASAP, then I would greatly appreciate your help! 😃
  3. We’re having a heat wave here in the PNW. We’re also getting some serious high altitude smoke from the wildfires and that’s blocking the sun a bit. My guppy tub is sitting at 79F, inside tanks are in the 78-80 range. I know some of the micro climates are much hotter. How are your fish doing?
  4. It's 100 degrees here right now and supposed to be several degrees hotter tomorrow. A few weeks ago I had a couple corys die when we had temps reach 115 here. I can't help but think there is a connection. I don't have central air and I have some concerns about my water temp fluctuating too much. What is the best method for keeping the temp stable during extreme heat? Should I add cool fresh water occasionally, turn the lights off? What do you think?
  5. If I am running an HoB filter to expose moving water to air, but the impeller is immersed, how does the air cooling compare to the addition of heat from the impeller? That is the fancy question. The real question is, "Do I benefit from running an HoB in a heat wave, versus just sponge filters?" This is not a rhetorical question! I am thinking about this because of my aquariums.
  6. I live south of Seattle but I’ve been out of two for the last ten days and don’t get home until late tomorrow. I’m worried about my tanks and my pond. It hit 100 in my area and I see it was 110 in Portland. I know most of us don’t have AC. How are your fish doing?
  7. Heat treatment has worked wonders in the past against ich, but can pandas take 30°c? Anyone got experience with this? I know they prefer cooler water than most corys.
  8. Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has experience with summer tubing in hot places. For example I live in the desert of Southern California where this week it’s 118-120F. (Normally it is around 110*F in the summer.) But could a summer tub under a patio work? I would like to start but I wanted to see if anyone had any tips or trick before I do. Thanks!
  9. Before everything went wong my mollies were peaceful after vigorous treatment(meds, heat, and salt but still ongoing) for ich they are starting to chase and nip each other any ideas why
