Tyler LaZerte
No idea why my photos post upside down 🤣 I am trying to get a feel for which way I should place this wood in the aquarium. I like both ways and could see them working but I encourage you to persuade me one way or the other 😉
Isaac M
I like the first one, the shadows and highlights look better in my opinion. The 2nd picture (bottom picture) looks very dark.
Patrick_G
The first one looks good to me. I like the light. Is that a Lomine?
lefty o
either looks okay to me. whatever suits your eye is the way to go.
xXInkedPhoenixX
I like them both in fact I was leaning towards the first one- however the 2nd placement has the bulk of the stem to the back so you'll have less hiding behind it, fish, plants or whatever. (or a sponge filter which you might want to hide, hence placement 1) Edited May 4, 2021 by xXInkedPhoenixX 1 more thing.

It's the Lominie Asta 20 Freshwater. This is at 100% brightness. I probably won't have it this bright. I may start at 50%

I am leaning towards the rye first because my bed is on that side so I can get a great view of the tank from the side while I am laying down. anewbie
Photos are likely upside down because you are holding the phone upside down - you can use any image editor to rotate the image before uploading. Not sure what windows default editor is - i use linux.
Tyler LaZerte
@anewbie No my phone was held the right way. I am not sure why it's like that haha
MAC
Edit the photo so it is upside down in your phones gallery. See if it then uploads right side up in the forum 🤷♂️ I like the first pic

H.K.Luterman
I agree on the first pic being my preference. Also, that is a really neat piece of wood!
Tyler LaZerte
@H.K.Luterman Thank you very much! I found it at a LFS and it was like it was illuminated by light lol. It was just 4 inches too long so I chopped a bit off of the end and it figure I'll either leave it like it is or put moss over the cut part
Tanked
Tough call! I like the additional texture in the second picture, but I agree with the others, the well lit aged appearance of the first picture has the better look. You can age the fresh cut end with a piece of sandpaper, file, stone or piece of cement.

Tyler LaZerte
@JakeMicallef05 Yes! I was thinking one large Java Fern in there or a really colorful Bucephalandra

Tyler LaZerte
@Patrick_G So far, I'm loving it. No need to go all the ways up to 100% brightness on it. 50% is more than enough and gives it a cool look. The aquarium it is used on is going to bed a bit of a blackwater tank so the Lominie is going to make it look eerie and I love it!
