  1. After 3 months, I plugged the heater in since the mornings have been in the low 50’s. I have also started a new add-on project to this area. Took advantage of the Petco 50% off sale and purchased 2 more 10 gallon tanks. My thought is to make them grow out tanks for the Endlers. Separate them male and female. Use the third as a hospital tank. So far, have added some substrate that was hanging out along with a few rocks. Purchased a sheet of acrylic to make my own lids for these. Cost $17 for a sheet compared to $18 per tank of Aqueons glass covers. This allowed me to drill a hole mid cover to pass an airline through for the sponge filter. Waiting for an airline splitter, check valves and additional sponge filters to arrive. For plants, I have an excess of moss in one of my tanks I’ll use along with water lettuce. I’ll update again when the tanks are up and running.
  2. So, my wish of posting weekly went waaaaay out the window. Access to a computer so my pictures are oriented the correct way is limited. These are photos from today. The endler population is exploding at an exponential rate. I ran a med duo of Ich-X and ParaCleanse for a week since I saw a female with spots. She is all better and the tank is doing amazing!! Sidenote, anyone looking for Enders??? Wanted to poll... Light at the front of the tank??? or at the back of the tank.... This photo gives an idea of what the population is for the Endlers and why I need to reduce the population... Does anyone have any recommendations to help reduce my population without a cannibalistic tankmate?
  3. The gang is almost all together at feeding time. Gave them a mix of frozen blood worms and daphnia
  4. Unplugged the heater on this tank. Garage is at 77, tank at 73. With the heater it ran at 78. I’ll just keep an eye on it. Have quite the layer of floating plants!
  5. Did the weekly glass cleaning, water change, mulm cleanup and filter squeeze. Hair algae is still hanging around. Pulled quite a bit off but the endlers are pecking at it like it’s a buffet. Snails are still multiplying but that’s good. Helping me keep this tank somewhat algae free. Have been thinking of getting a pair of bristlenose plecos soon. I need to transfer all the adults from the garage tank into this tank so I can quarantine the plecos. For the time being, picked up 5 Amano shrimp to help clean up. Being acclimated as I type this.
  6. I agree with @Fish Folk. Thee tetras will do better in a larger school.
  7. Maybe stop the additional iron. Easy Green has enough iron for those plants. How long has the tank been set up? Mine has been going for about 6 weeks and I’m at the hair algae stage. My endlers pick at it but don’t get rid of it. The snails stay away from it. I was going to wait a bit longer to get Amanos but will probably get them sooner to help combat the issue. For now, I’ll keep removing as much as I can and just stay the course with weekly water changes and dosing of ferts.
  8. I’ll check out both of those programs. Thanks for the suggestions!
  9. Sounds exactly what they do! I bought about a dozen Endlers about 3 months ago. I now have a 10 gallon and a 30 gallon full of them
  10. I have reds and they are doing great. So far I haven’t seen any size diminishing as the generations go on. My Ph is right around 7.5 when I use the master kit. The test strips make it look a bit lower. It’s also in a color I can not distinguish shades very well
  11. I have been wanting to print things for my tanks but need to familiarize myself with the CAD programs. It’s all foreign to me. Will usually find files online and print those
  12. I really like this tub! Interested to know what you did with it when the weather changed? Helps if I keep reading!!😂
  13. Welcome! Hopefully this community helps rekindle your passion for aquariums
  14. Each set of lights look good. Having 3 lights you can see more detail since you can position them where the center light doesn’t reach compared to the static placement of one
  15. Here is my recent test strip. Not too accurate but a general idea
  16. I knew nothing about that until a couple months ago. Bought a test kit for Gh and Kh. My levels are really high. Suppose it’s from being on well water. That sounds more like it. Thanks for the added info! Even with the high levels in my tank I still add Wonder Shell. Just want to make sure they have good molts
  17. Basically saltwater. When the eggs get fertilized they swim to saltwater to hatch them. The shrimplets grow up there and them move into freshwater.
  18. Cherry shrimp are probably the strongest of the neocardinia shrimp. In a well established tank they can reproduce like rabbits! I too, started with 10 in my 20 gallon and have been able to sell at least a couple hundred since August last year. Amanos need brackish water to reproduce. They start small but can get enormous! Here is a photo of one of mine next to a fully grown cherry shrimp.
  19. So far, I have done the poster board taped to the back and painted the back with black paint. Both look ok. Paint definitely looks better. Wanted to do window film but the expense was off putting for a roll
