  1. Yep just looked at stockist map and they don't seem to have many outlets your side of the pond. Maybe this will change. I struggle to get extreme and repashy foods aside from eBay or Amazon and I prefer to buy food in-store when possible.
  2. @JettsPapa just to say thanks your advice really worked and I have happy breeding shrimp. I picked up my shrimp fairly cheaply and I do have quite I high cull rate at the moment but that is adding to the fun and my community tanks. After the last tidy up
  3. My shrimp tank dropped to below 13C (55F ish) overnight this winter no issues I have thrown a heater in there since to keep things from getting crazy. They are breeding like crazy at the moment with tank temps about 19C (66F).
  4. So I picked up some NT Labs shrimp enhancer a few months ago and it was a game changer in the shrimp tank. After such a result (shrimplets everywhere). I thought I'd double down and try the range. The foods all seem suited to smaller mouths which suits my fish mates. Anyone else use these and what are your thoughts. I'm aware this is a British brand so supply might be limited overseas.
  5. My shrimp tank can barely support plants I sometimes top it up with water from the community tanks.
  6. Can't speak for coop heater but my heater switches from the set temp to the tank temp on its display so you only notice after water changes or you alter the temp. Catches me out sometimes.
  7. Where are you? I've seen them for sale in the UK (yesterday in fact) in a chain store I think they were about 4 for £15
  8. My female wouldn't let the male out of the cave to feed. She killed two male and one female krib, one female cory and (mistake on my part) one female apisto. She is now in a tank with some mollies which so far seem immune to her bullying. They are pretty fish but lot of attitude.
  9. Ask the shop what they feed, I did well with bug bites with my bettas.
  10. First, relax a bit you have done a good gravel vac. Since the fish are out you can agitate the gravel the get the food back into water column so the filter can get it and if you feel there is still a lot in there keep vaccing . Then reset your aquarium and return the fish. Tomorrow you might want to look at your filter sponges and give them a clean. Feed lightly and watch the parameters. But you have done what you can. Be ready to do extra water changes but you'll probably be fine. If the cory is swimming ok it will be happier with it's friends if not swimming well maybe isolate if you have a suitable tank If the cory is swimming ok it will be happier with it's friends if not swimming well maybe isolate if you have a suitable tank
  11. I divided fluval chi using some plastic canvas for two female bettas. That has an overhead filter in the center of the tank so I didn't worry about increasing the filtration. I am currently trying sponge filters for the first time and I'm pretty happy with it and they will be great for bettas because of the gentle flow
  12. Yep they caused chaos in Spain where they became invasive. So EU wide ban, I only found out because as you said once common then gone still mainly nerites in the shops here. Obviously Spain had a very different climate to blighty so we can keep them again. Presumably they like the cold
  13. Mystery snails where banned in the UK under EU law so have only returned to the market in the last year ish since we left the EU. So are not as likely a hitchhiker as you expect. Out of the 6 LFS near me I've only seen them in 1 recently. I get very tiny Ramshorns from nowhere in my tanks but I don't think that is what you have, I'm with @Siastia and the copepod theory in which is impressive and a great thing to observe in the aquarium
  14. Match the fish to your water not water to your fish. Change takes time, let your tank move at it's own pace. It's your tank if it's working enjoy and carry on don't try and fix what isn't broken
  15. Has to be my Otto's bought 5 occasionally see one, the thing is I sometimes see one that is to small to be from the batch I bought. My apisto has disappeared but that seems to be related to me adding about 30 young cherry shrimp to the community tank from a cull. She seems less interested in feeding time now.
  16. They are nice looking and look very well priced, there is definitely a gap in the market stand wise over here. I also agree on the height of tanks I go for eye level when seated
  17. It's great when you stumble on to the fish you have been hankering after. My tanks are full at the moment so I'm enjoying other people's purchases
  18. Frosty with just enough snow or hail make things just awkward. Highs can be 5C and lows anything down to -5C . So definitely big coat and wooly hat season I shouldn't complain it will pass soon enough but I'm not a winter person but I pretty much sulk from first frost till spring. First bulbs are beginning to show now spring is getting closer.
  19. Sorry if you miss understood me my advise was to someone who has already told us the fish and plants are doing well in the water. I probably worded it badly sadly your situation is different but my way of looking at testing is that every test is part of a picture if the tank is happy what you test is your happy marker and then you use whatever kit you have to look for change and then manage that.. I know that sounds really basic but these test kits are relatively new to me most didn't exist when I started keeping fish or were to expensive if you weren't a fish farm
  20. If everyone and everything is healthy don't chase a number. I don't worry about kh it gets tested because it's on my test strips but if everything is happy I'm only looking at nitrate and nitrite to see if I need a water change. Sometimes we can do more harm trying to fix things we didn't need to.
  21. You'll be fine but don't remove it on the same day you clean those sponges. It's always tempting to make all the changes on the big clean day but you need stagger such big changes to lessen the impact.
  22. @Pepere lovely tank they do have an otherworldly look under blue light . And that lighthouse is ace there is always room for r something silly in life and tanks. I was eyeing up this recently but the reviews advised questionnaire paint. https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/windmill-aquarium-decoration
  23. I'm with the pro Glo if you don't get him Glo fish will he believe you set it up for him or will he be suspicious that you using him as an excuse to set yourself up another tank. We don't have Glo fish over here so it's really hard to have an opinion on them having never actually seen one.
  24. I feed once per day unless I have fry and only after lights on . I am currently feeding my hospital tank a little more because that has no alage or anything established for the fish to find so they get two light feeds. I'm also trying to build them up a bit so they can fight there ailments better. It's important to remember that with an established tank there is a lot more for fish to eat than what we add .
