  1. I made my own co2 system using pop bottles and sugar gelatin base with yeast, baking soda and water topper i am getting pressure but not a ton. So I can’t use the co2 diffusers I bought they are for the full systems. So am wondering what is a good co2 diffuser to use for DIY systems? I am using cigarette filter in a tube right now. But was hoping to buy one that looks better.
  2. 7 Cory’s napping and now the Siamese Algae Eaters are napping lol
  3. Thanks so much for all your answers. I guess I just need to keep doing what I have been.
  4. The tank is about 3 weeks old and fish have been in it for 2 weeks. I usually start the tanks fish in but this time I had the chance to slow down a bit. The tank is 45 gallon and planted.
  5. My ammonia is at .25 with the API test kit and I have fish in. For some reason my test kit shows .25 most of the time even after several months even. Not sure if it’s my vision or lighting affecting the reading of the test I wasn’t implying that the dechlorinator would kill the benificial bacteria. What I was wondering is the tap water killing it even though I treat the water at time of putting it in. Not sure how fast the product works
  6. So I just started a new tank and struggling with Nitrites but ammonia and nitrates are in safe range. Been doing water changes and have been adding benificial bacteria. My question is I’m treating my tap water with a dechlorinator since I have chlorine in my tap water. I’ve put the dechlorinator in my buckets before I add the water. Should I be adding once in tank or before like I am and is this water possibly killing off my benificial batlcteria? If so how long should I wait to add more benificial bacteria? Any help in this would be great. Never had this happen before and I’m doing nothing different
  7. Yes they can be quite the goofballs. I was watching my 45 gallon tank and one was resting and another slowly snuck up to the resting one and bumped its butt and they chased each other for like 10min lol. Love my corys.
  8. Here is another lol. They just love this rock lol For those wondering this is the full view of the tank. It’s a 65 gallon tank. I want to maybe change it up and deal with the algae issues I’m having. So are build may be in the works at some point.
  9. These guys live such a tough life lol. a couple of my Bronze Corys relaxing. Love the adult, juvenile and baby Corys relaxing.
  10. Hopefully the title isn’t to confusing. Anyhow I currently have a 20gal tank that I am replacing with a 45gal tank. My plan is to use the plants from the 20 in the 45. But as you can see in the pictures I have a wee bit of an algae issue I’ve been battling. As well as bladder and Ramshorn snails. I have been using spot treating CO2 Booster (api) on the algae but not working very well. I even reduced my light brightness to 60% for 8hrs. I have read somewhere I can dip the plants in peroxide (if I remember correctly and kill the snail eggs and what I miss on the cleaning. Also that giving them a sock in the CO2 booster will kill off the algae. Not sure if this is true or not. Any advice would be awesome. My fear is that all this will kill my beneficial bacteria that I wanted to use to start up the tank. I am still going to add Ben bacteria when I start the tank up. any help would be amazing. And what kind of algae is this?
  11. Yes my drift wood with the stratum substrate was killing my KH and ph. my other tanks don’t have this problem so I really think it’s the wood thank you all for your input.
  12. I understand that Co2 booster is not the same sad co2. Just saying I have it.
  13. For my lighting I am using a Hygger 957 Planted Aquarium Light. The intensity is 100% for 8hrs. With approx 2 hrs night lighting. My substrate is gravel with a mix of Fluval stratum mixed in. I am also using root tabs (homemade Osmocote plus tabs). I have used the co2 booster from api as well. as a full range fertilizer what would you recommend? I would love to use easy green but here in Canada I have to order online but would rather buy something local shipping is a lot here in Canada
  14. So I am looking at rescaping one of my tanks. And I want to add a large piece of driftwood. I was given some wood that I used in a 20g and it affected my prater parameters. I am looking for a wood that will not affect my water parameters.
  15. So I am having an issue with one of my tanks. Algae on my plants. My light cycle is 8hrs at the moment. I am doing a weekly addition of API leaf zone. My test numbers for ammonia = 0, nitrite and nitrate = 0, ph is 7.55, KH 5doh, gh 8doh. The tank is a 65g well planted with Corydoras(10-15), Siamese algae eaters(2), Nerite and bladder snails and one big mystery snail, and a good selection of fish (tetras, glass cats, harlequin rasboras and American flag fish). I am no my sure on the type of algae on the plants but I have a few spots with what looks like black beard algae. I have been removing the black beard manually. any ideas on how to reduce the growth on the plants? I’m worried if I reduce the lighting too much it will affect my other plants. The amount of algae is actually more than in the pic
