That's awesome!! And that female really put out some fry for her first batch! I got 10 from my first and she had more in the main tank while I was out of town, have only found 4 or so hiding amongst the other cichlids

Just a quick update from the last time. Have been dealing with out of town work and then a broken hand so feel like I'm neglecting the tanks but the fish are happy and growing

So I've struggled with green spot algae since starting up my 55 ( 8 months ago ) and now my 20 gallon fry tank ( 2 months ) is doing the same. Mainly my sword plants, but almost all my plants will start to get a good bit of green spot then it'll consume whole leaves. I've trimmed the leaves back, do weekly dosing of easy green and iron , water parameters are good. Can't figure it out Read an article about if your phosphates are at 0 then that could be the issue. Honestly don't know much about phosphates and their purpose in the tank so was wondering if someone could explain, and recommend any good fixes for green spot, phosphates dosing. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

It does make me feel better lol. Im probably trying way to hard and messing with the plants to much. -
Awesome thank you. Didn't know if the tetras would put out that much bioload , will add another oto or two and start working on plants for that tank. It only has a basic 3 dot led under the lid, got any ideas on very low light plants ?

Upgraded my daughter's beta tank to a 5.5 and attempted to add 6 neon and 4 glowlight tetras to the tank . Along with an otocinclus. Within an hour we were down 4 of the tetras so pulled them and now they're with my fry tank. Beta never messed with the otocinclus. Any recommendation on partners with the beta or do I just have an asshole that's gonna be lonely forever lol

Water parameters with plants help
Kyle murfitt replied to Kyle murfitt's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
Thank you for the info! The 55 gallon has been setup for almost 6 months and I believe is cycled , think im having user error with the master test kit. Test strips showing 0ppm ammonia. And the 20 gallon I used filter media and a seeded sponge filter during setup a little over a month ago. Think I just need to give the plants more time like yall said -
Water parameters with plants help

Both on 11 hour cycles -
So I've got a 55 gallon and a 20 gallon. Both with vallisneria ( doing the best so far ) , sword plants , anubias , java fern , and bacopa. Plants are doing alright but really not booming. Dosing easy green and easy iron in both once a week . Lights. 55 gallon - two t5Ho 46" fluval planted 12000k bulbs. 20 gallon - fluval nano planted Parameters. (both tanks are the same with master test kit) Ammonia. .25 or less ( have never seem it show true zero color so maybe I'm not doing it right ) Nitrates. 5ppm or less - test strips show higher Nitrite. 0 Ph. 7.4-7.8 Soo..are my nitrates to low and plants not getting food ? I know you don't want more than. 20-40ppm but master test kit has never showed me more 10ppm. Any other issues yall might think of please lmk.

Have tried a few times to turn on push notifications for the forum with no luck. Press it and it and it says enabling and never completes? Anybody else dealt with this ?
