  1. Welp. Got some new apistos and the male wasn't doing the best after night 1.. moved him to the 20 gallon mbuna fry tank and had to move the babies to the big boi tank .... treated the male with salt and seems like the kiddos are doing good so far. Def need to rehome a few though
  2. Well the 5 year old convinced me to go ahead and get some..shes impatient like her dad .Found a pair of Double Red Agassizi. Ammonia and nitrates are good , nitrites still a little high but will monitor and maintain proper number.
  3. Water parameters starting to straighten out. Added 12 cardinal tetras. A few more weeks and it will be ready for apistos
  4. These olive racer nerites have been in the tank less than a week and....
  5. Large water change on the 55 gallon, moved some vallianeria and removed all the cryps that were struggling into my 20 gallon fry tank . Added some Java moss and cryps to the 29 gallon that cycling for apistos And adjusted the 20 gallon mbuna fry tank , added the rest of cryps here
  6. Ughhhh! I've been waiting for a tank to cycle to get some double red agassizi and this thread is driving me nuts !
  7. I've been struggling with the same and treated it like bba. Pretty sure that's what it is if ya let it go long enough to see the growth. I started dosing the whole tank with 3 ml of h202 per 10 gallons I believe, and a lot of flow In the tank. There's a site that explains it a lot better if you Google bba treatment . Still fighting it but lower light levels and h202 have helped a bit
  8. Plants still melting , parameters are still fd, but black worms and some otocinclus have been added .. next week will be 3 water changes , then the week after 2 instead of daily
  9. Day 8.... dosing easy green, and daily water changes with water conditioner and beneficial bacteria starter. Should've bought fritz turbo start 700. Just gotta wait
  10. @anewbiehoping as the plants grow in it will create some barriers. Worst case 8ve got a bit more drift wood I can cut up and place or rocks
  11. The micro sword, Dwarf sagittaria, and my swords are melting and its killing me. With some advice from other members going to start dosing 4 pumps weekly of easy green and see where it goes
  12. @lefty othank you ! I've heard a few people say no need to start dosing when starting a brand new tank with fertilized soils but wanted another opinion
  13. Starting to cycle my 29 gallon. Plenty of root tabs in the soil along with it being Carib sea eco complete substrate. When do y'all think I should start dosing easy green ? Right off the bat or wait until after plants settle and the tank cycles ? Tank has been set up with plants for 5 days and starting to see some melt. Thanks
  14. Saaaaame here. But I feel like my last few tanks I've messed with the plants and stuff to much in the start and don't let them just settle in and come back. Gonna deal with the melt and start dosing once the tank cycles
  15. Day 5 of tank being up parameters are still crazy , nitrites are starting to drop a bit but ammonia is still sky high . Also seeing most of the plants besides the java fern starting to melt back a bit. Little bit of yellowing in leaves . Going to contain myself and just let things happen on this one. Still doing water changes and adding conditioner along with beneficial bacteria but not going to start dosing ferts or anything yet. Hurry up and wait
  16. I can't stop messing with the scape 😑 added the wood in the center and made two more caves with the piece. Think im gonna leave it alone .... maybe
  17. @ThomasLCI've got a tank full of 4 " mbunas and have had success with vallisneria, sword plants , and anubias. Took a little bit of work to keep them in the substrate when the cichlids wanted to dig but once they rooted well they've done good.
