  1. Mine really go for homemade snello. Here is a simple recipe that I make. https://steemit.com/snails/@snailshack/for-the-aquatic-snail-keeper-snello-recipe
  2. I would say moving the water over isn't necessary. There really isn't much benefit in terms of bb for the water. One thing I would suggest is to put the gravel from the 10 on top of the extra that you will need to fill the norm of the 20l. I would also move the filter material over as well, even if you just stuff it in there somewhere. But after that as long as you don't add a bunch more fish you shortly be good to go. I
  3. She seems to be hanging by herself a whole bunch though. Is it possible she is trying to drop them but the rest of the fish keep bugging her
  4. I belive i have a pregnant Molly. Her abdomen is starting to square off. I was wondering 2 things. 1. How long do you think it will be until she has the fry? 2. Would a 5 gallon tank be enough room for her to be in for a while until she has them? TIA
  5. OK thank you. I was also going to put them in the tank after I do my weekly water change
  6. Is there any special procedure that needs don't to move cory fry from my grow out tank to the main tank? TIA
  7. I did not get the ziss. I got one that I can hang inside my tank too keep temp up. I don't have a ton of room established yet you the hobby. I found a smaller one that mostly fits in my 5 gallon grow out tank. I only have 11 fry currently so I don't need to hatch that many.
  8. I bought them of Amazon and the website is said to go to on the package wasn't correct. There was over 1000 reviews from vpoint so I thought I woke give it a try. @Tihshho thanks for the video I will check it out
  9. I just received my hatchery and some eggs in the mail. I tried to Google this but all the topics talk about specific gravity. I have no way of measuring specific gravity and was hoping you all could help me. How much salt to water so I need to make and can I use api aquarium salt? TIA
  10. I just looked up seachem on their website and this is what it says Prime® may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.
  11. That's what I ended up doing. I took a piece of filter out and rinsed all thy crud of it and stuck it in some pantyhose with some gravel to weigh it down and put it right in front of the sponge
  12. I think I'm going to go another route and pull some filter out of my main tank. How will that work with only a sponge filter in the tank. Just set it close to it in some pantyhose.
  13. I just checked my grow out tank for the heck of it too see what the water parameters are. With twice daily water changes i want expecting to see anything but I actually have ammonia. About 1ppm maybe more. It's definitely green but not super dark. I'm getting ready to do another water change and will take out 50% . I use prime for dechlorinating. I have some quick start as well and was wondering if I can add that as well. I know bb isn't all that is cracked up to be but I was going to do a little expirament. I'm going to change the water, measure the ammonia and then add the bb. And then recheck 24hrs later to see what happens. Whet I want to make sure is that mixing the two won't have any bad reactions and possibly kill the Cory fry. TIA
  14. I was just wondering because I was putting it in a grow out tank for fry. I wanted to make sure it was clean to not introduce anything to them. Also because I had all that stuff stored in the garage.
  15. @GameCzar At what size can I move the Cory fry from the grow out tank back to my main tank?
  16. I would give them another couple days.
  17. @Vanish i thought the same as you. My tank is set at 78 that my Cory's laid eggs in. the fry i have are at the same temp and so far all twelve they hatched are doing well.
  18. How long ago did you put them in there? With new surroundings they may be a little unsure of things. Give them a few days and they should color back up.
  19. I have twelve myself in a grow out tank right now. I plan on keeping six and selling the rest back to my lfs where I bought the originals. I'm pretty sure most lfs will take them, either for cash or store credit. Or like @ARMYVET said, Give them away to friends.
  20. @Tihshho thank you for all the information. The container is from my kids playroom. They were using it outside and never brought it back in. We have been having a lot of rain the past couple weeks so it filled up with water. I was mowing the lawn and drove post it and happened to look in and see them. Based on the info from you I would say it's safe to harvest. Would you agree?
  21. OK. I kind of thought that based on the size they were and the Cory fry. So I need to do anything to them before I feed them to the fish. And what is the best method for harvesting. Do I take them all or only what I want to feed and leave the rest
  22. I remember reading some time ago about people on this forum harvesting insect larva to feed their fish. Attached are some pics. Are there suitable to feed and if so can I use them to feed my Cory fry as well. They look like like worms of various sizes, Just in case the pictures aren't clear
  23. @ARMYVETthat's awesome. Best of luck to you.
