  1. Ps I recently moved away from Texas and I miss it! My water was much higher on the pH than here but either way there are adjustments!
  2. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge! I have been adding more plants and getting some propagation of existing plants. My phosphate runs low and I am watching how it progresses my nitrates are low and no ammonia. But they say… Ammonia and light makes algae… But I show no ammonia but I have had some plants that decayed so I am probably missing when it goes up a little. I found this list online it is old but I thought it had some interesting suggestions! I just reset my 3.0 to a siesta as was suggested by a knowledgeable person. I looked up the plant that you mentioned and I’m going to try to find it online. The process is almost overwhelming to get balance in the aquarium with high temperature fish. The happy thing is I finally got some healthy German Blue Rams from Aqua Huna! They are AWESOME on communication and support!! Off the charts great!
  3. After watching Aqua Scaping videos, I heard them comment strongly that planted tanks should be around 72-75 degrees or you will have algae problems. Well...my main two tanks have plants, fish that need 82-84 degree water, and I fight ALGAE! A very nice person gave me a schedule for my Fluval 3.0 which should help BUT my water is an issue!! Anyone have this issue figured out??
  4. OK thanks. I went ahead and treated with the trio. Then I may let them rest and then treat with the metroplex. I don’t know I’m hoping that getting fish from a different source will be the answer being that my water parameters are good and I keep my tanks clean I’m raising the temperature and not feeding blood worms as a person on another forum and Corey( in a video) suggested. If this group doesn’t work I’m never buying them again! I thought about getting some distilled water in case there’s something in the water here that’s just not showing up on any of the testing. But even when I lived in Texas they live longer than this and I had to struggle to get my pH down. I gave away my RO unit When I moved to what I thought was better water quality. Oh well we keep working at it I really appreciate your help
  5. I might end up pulling those snails out of the other tank and treat it with Metroplex. Besides these fish the tank is doing better. It’s a newer tank and I had a little bit of algae issues at the beginning newer meaning it’s like over three months around four And had new lighting
  6. OK! Thank you for your advice again! I got a new shipment in after talking with another supplier at Aqua Huna. They just came today and I’m not putting them in that other tank. I have them in a quarantine tank and I’m wondering if I should use the metroplex instead of the parecleanse
  7. I hope so and on the bigger picture to find the answer to this continuous problem would be a great discovery! All of these fish have done basically the same thing. I’ve read of similar reactions on the Internet. No real visible signs except for on a few of them I have noticed like this one that his coloring it gets darker as he starts not swimming around as much. I am thinking it might be a parasite but it doesn’t seem to be phased by the ParaCleanse . From what I’ve read the darker coloring is stress.
  8. Thank you for your advice! I pulled him out the tank he was in and put him in small tank alone. I added Metroplex And a little bit of salt to his water. I have several snails in the other tank so I’m afraid the metroplex would kill them according to their information. I would’ve preferred just treating him where he was. I had added some to his food but the community eats it so can’t gauge his intake. It’s not looking very good though at this point.
  9. I have treated upon arrival with the med trio. But no matter what I’ve tried I keep losing these fish. I’ve listed previously my water parameters and one very kind person on another forum suggested not feeding blood worms and raising my temperature a little bit more. I’ve made those changes. I also treated the entire tank with ParaCleanse. He seemed a little better and then a couple days after the treatment he’s back to looking like things are going south. He did have feces one day that was white but bulky. I have even treated with another medication that you add to the food (Metroplex) I have done that a number of times but there’s no way to tell if he’s eating enough of it. Considering adding that to the water of the entire tank. No other fish are having issues
  10. I’m just sending this picture to see if it helps you understand anything that could be going wrong with my last German Blue Ram from the previous shipment. Notice how his body is darker but now his tummy is all filled with white again. This morning he is resting on a piece of wood. I think I’m going to go out and get some peas and see if he’ll eat something like that and maybe clean out his intestinal track. I wish I could figure this out!
  11. Wrap it up really good! I lost a tank when I moved. It jiggled and something else jiggled… So I went to the pet store!
  12. Up-date! 😊 there was a feast going on last night inside my aquarium as the little critters crawled back onto the glass! I did a deep vac in the substrate, which may have helped. This morning there was no evidence of any survivors!!! Even if there are some I think I’m not worried now! pretty sure they were the worms not the planaria. What a lesson! I appreciated everybody’s input because I was freaking out! And I will not do that again!🐟 This is a great forum!
  13. Well I have five Acara in there right now! I don’t think anybody’s too hungry! Ha ha! I actually never saw them eating any but that doesn’t mean they didn’t But that algae eater went to town and so did those pandas
  14. I did notice the traps online. I guess I’ll order that just to be on the safe side. I would rather not treat with meds unless absolutely necessary. This forum is really helpful! Thank you so much!
  15. I’ve looked as closely as possible and I do not see the triangular head. But I’ve never seen one before except for when I looked it up online. I had my tank divided because of some fry but I went ahead and opened it up because I’m not really wanting to care for Fry at the moment anyway. There were not many left anyway. I caught a few. I have a large Siamese algae eater and some panda corys and they were going to town on everything on that side. I’m getting ready to vacuum now but they’re all off the glass. Mostly because I think the algae eater cleared things up. I greatly appreciate everyone’s input because it was pretty creepy to see that today!
  16. That is a picture of blown up as big as I think I can get it. A lot of them are moving down into the soil. If I can get a better picture I will post it. Thanks so much. I wish I could figure it out
  17. They are wiggling around so it’s not fish food. Thank you for pitching in! They are starting to go down into my soil. They are also on the glass. Advice to everybody...do not pick up plants from the lake or a pond! I thought I was being all natural! Big mistake
  18. I made a big mistake! I live near a lake and saw some lovely grass growing near the edge and picked up a clump. I rinsed it gently and then put it in an aquarium. Thinking that there might be some good microbial things to feed fry! Yes you can call me stupid! This morning I have a little tiny white worm looking things on my glass and plants. a bunch of them! I’m trying to include a picture but my tank is going crazy cause I had to let the parent fish out from the divider. Any idea what these things are and how do I get rid of them?
  19. I have noticed that my Acaras just bump their heads on stuff sometimes. I mostly noticed they get scuffs on their head when I put a divider in the tank and they’re trying to squeeze through things. They always healed up really fast. So I just always thought that it was from scuffing around! 🙂
  20. I read that on the green spot algae but I read it the other way I sure don’t have too many phosphates unless they’re not showing up on my test. This is pretty tricky thanks for the reply
  21. Thank you for the reply. In the oldest tank I have observed leaf decay that points to low PO. I’ve been adding PO liquid to the larger tanks a couple times a week at least. I’ve been struggling to balance the nutrients with new lighting. I have a 75 gallon with the Fluval Aquasky, one 40 breeder with Fluval 3.0, and one 40 with Finnex that I started with. Strangely the Finnex light plants are doing the best at the moment. The other two tanks I have been fighting algae since I had the lighting and nutrients wrong...so I got algae in both of them! I’ve been fighting that for over a month and seem to have possibly at least slowed the speed of the algae. But I have now some spot algae in the 40 gallon with the 3.0. I have read that low PO can possibly contribute to this particular allergy. Knowing that the other tank had been showing some decay and that I had already been dosing PO I was hoping that I was on the right road. But my PO continues to stay low. I decided to increase the dosage after reading a few peoples comments. My plant growth is moderate since I turn down the lights. Frustrating because I spent a lot of money on aquariums, lights and plants And of course my fish. I guess part of the “fun” of the hobby is trying to get things to be perfect. I’ve decided only God is able to do that!😊
  22. I have been afraid of the tissue cultures for concerned that they will melt. It sounds like your experience is positive. Any input you have would be appreciated
