    Ich

I can't tell off that picture if the spots are flat I would keep treating with ick X and I would add a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallons as Ich causes massive electrolyte loss and the salt will add back in essential electrolytes if there raised you could be dealing with epistylis I would treat with a combination of ick X and do a course of maracyn2 in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days as epistylis feeds off of the gram negative bacteria on the slime coat of your fish and spreads more quickly at higher temperatures @Zac
  2. Looks bacterial what I would do is a course of maracyn2 in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days it less likely to harm your shrimp or snail if you use the medicated food @PaigeIs
  3. Am just using my phone at the moment and not sure how to link No I don't keep discus I just find it interesting readings books and articles about diet and health I always like to feed my fish as natural a diet as possible heiko blehers discus vol 1 vol 2 are really good reads for anyone into discus what you could do is try coating a piece of slat in repashy and stand it up right they might be more inclined to try it
  4. Possibly they never responded to my email
  5. I was reading recently about wild discus that explained that they are predominantly eat aglae and plant matter detritus in the wild examined the stomach content of wild discus consisted of 50% algae and other plant material and 20% detritus 30% insect larvae in the dry season in the wet season 70% algae and other plant matter 10% detritus 20% insect larvae some evidence to suggest they also feed on freshwater sponge's discus are prone to being overweight in captivity suffering from fatty liver and a lot of other health problems which are probably diet related i would try and feed a more natural diet good quality algae based flake food or pellet with a minimum of 50% algae repashy super green brine shrimp Daphnia blood worms Tubifex worms @Lennie
  6. It could be an internal blockage or growth have you noticed it pass anything recently is the bulge larger on one side of the fish or is it symmetrical
  7. Looking at the pictures it looks like tissue damage that could be caused by a number of things bacterial infections viral infections parasitic infections coupled with the bloating I would be leaning towards a parastic infection with possible secondary bacterial infections are these black patches what your referring to as tumors as they don't look like typical tumors I have seen @SonOfOrion
  8. Looks like tissue damage it could have been your sail fin plec what I would do is a course of kanaplex or maracyn2 to prevent any secondary bacterial infection as melafix is more like a mild antiseptic treatment I wouldn't use it for anything more serious@mountaintoppufferkeeper has more experience with puffers so maybe he can chip In
  9. What are your water parameters ammonia nitrite nitrate etc any rapid breathing hanging near the surface flashing @Krish
  10. heavy metal contamination can cause some of the symptoms your seeing but I would have expected it to have affected multiple fish not just two in separate ponds the fact your running carbon block filter and adding dechlorinator would lesson the effects of any potential contamination if something were to get thought in smaller quantities lead can build up over time in the body causing neurological disorders if your using seachems prime that removes lead and other heavy metals it's difficult to say for sure what the cause is at this point
  11. What I would do is test daily if your test shows any ammonia or nitrite do a 50%water change and add a double dose of prime or Fritz complete to help detoxify any ammonia or nitrite till your ammonia and nitrite constantly stay at zero I think this was a water quality issue that killed most of your fish I would just monitor for now and keep up with water changes I wouldn't disinfect your tank
  12. What I would do is try feeding him up with 3 small meals a day add some frozen or live brine shrimp or daphnia to his diet and I would add some aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons that will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes for a week
  13. Sound like something neurological with the symptoms your describing could be a genetic component what are your water parameters how old were the fish @rjv23
  14. Once you get pineconing you have to be very aggressive with treatment even then the chance of recovery aren't very good some do recover with the treatment I recommended
  15. What I would do is just monitor for now and follow up in a week with another course of Expel p
  16. Possible parasitic infections what I would do is start treating with Expel p once a week for 3 weeks
  17. Can you post a picture of the fish and Have you added anything new to the tank recently any rapid breathing listlessness hanging near the surface flashing spitting food out sunken belly @Krish
  18. I would follow up with the Expel p it might need a second course of kanaplex if you still seeing some pale areas on the skin
  19. It can be an issue with livebearers just something to I keep an eye on
  20. Trypaflavine is safe to use with aquarium salt
  21. What I would do is treat with a combination of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons that will help reduce the fluid buildup causing the pineconing and do a course of metroplex in food feeding a small amount twice a day for upto 3 weeks as active ingredient metronidazole treats aeromonas that can cause some of the symptoms your seeing and dose the tank with kanaplex that go antibiotic treatment for treating kidney infection that can cause fluid buildup @JohnNYC
  22. It's possible your male is harassing the female what I would do is quarantine and treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons for a week if you can't quarantine what I would do is a course of maracyn2 in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days just in case there's a bacterial component
  23. I would only treat the fish in quarantine unless other fish are showing symptoms in your main tank as you seeing a red area what I would do is treat with a combination of ick X and maracyn following The co-op treatment
  24. I would treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons for a week or if your seeing no improvement after a week I would up the aquarium salt to 1 table spoon for 1 gallons I would only use methylene blue in bath adding to your tank will kill your benefial bacterial
  25. What I would do is add an extra air stone and treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallons that will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes and treat with kanaplex or maracyn2 @ToothlessTheGuppy
