  1. @MN Mom sounds exactly how it progressed with my fish. Unfortunately I don't have anything else to suggest but I wish you luck. Sadly mine continued to get worse after transferring him to quarantine with Epsom salt as Colu suggested. He only lasted about 1.5 days after I made this forum topic, eventually just laying on his side at the bottom of the tank. I didn't even get a chance to add the Kanaplex. RIP little guy.
  2. Thanks for the reply Colu - I always appreciate your input. I can get started with the epsom salt first thing after work, but I'll have to make a trip to get some kanaplex.
  3. I noticed today that my honey gourami is more lethargic than usual, as if he's having trouble swimming. He's been either hanging at the surface or down near the bottom, or even in the roots of floating plants, sometimes tilted to one side. There also appears to be a swollen area on his left side/tail: I'm thinking maybe this is the swim bladder? I saw him eat a little bit and poop today so I don't think it's constipation. I'll still avoid feeding anymore for a couple days though. pH: ~7.6 | ammonia: 0 | nitrites: 0 | nitrates: ~10 | temp: 72 F I've had him for about 4 months. Only tankmates right now are 6 male endlers, 2 nerite snails, and some ramshorns. Everyone else seems to be doing fine. Any help with a diagnosis or advice would be appreciated. I love this little guy.
  4. @Colu thanks so much for the response. I had never heard of maracyn 2 so I appreciate that suggestion! Regarding harassment, is that normal for these guys? I thought everything would be fine starting with a 1:2 male:female ratio. Although for what it's worth, they seem much more chill today - the male doesn't seem to be going after her at all anymore.
  5. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me identify what might be going on with one of my endlers. I brought home two females and a male for my 10g planted tank yesterday. The tank has been up and running for over 6 months and the only other livestock in the tank are some neocaridina, two nerite snails, and a bunch of ramshorn snails. Parameters: PH: ~7.5 GH: ~10 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: <20 Temperature: unheated, but has been between 71 and 73 F since I put them in yesterday All 3 endlers looked perfectly healthy and happy yesterday. This morning, I can see what looks like a spot/injury on one of the female's mouth, right side of body, and it seems as though the right-side fin is damaged too. The other female and the male still look totally fine. Pics: I have Ich-X on hand, but this doesn't seem like ich to me? But these are the first fish I've kept in a long time so I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. edit: after watching them for a while it seems like the male (which is about half the size of the female in question) might be bothering her. Is it possible these are actually injuries from the male? And if so, why would a male harass one female like that?
  6. Kinda tough to tell from your photo, but it's definitely similar to something I had all over my glass for a while. I eventually determined after a ton of googling that they were Zoothamnium. As far as I can tell they're harmless - I wiped mine off with an algae sponge while doing a water change.
