What your describing sound like wasting disease what I would do is treat with fritz Expel p once a week for 4 weeks and you can add a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table for 5 gallons that will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes and add an extra air stone while treating @wuht

You want to go with a bigger species of tetras such as the buenos Aires tetras they get about 3in
-
It possible they are suffering from wasting disease you can treat with levamisole in food feeding a small amount twice a day for 7 days it's less likely to harm your shrimp when added to food and it's more effective or you can use fenbendazole in food feeding once a day for 3 days and repeat in two weeks

Use one table spoon of pellets add a quarter of a packet of maracyn2 one scoop of seachems focus that binds the medication to the food add a few drops of water one cap of seachems garlic guard that makes the medicated food more appetizing mix it well then you can feed a Small amount twice a day for 7 days storing any leftover food in the fridge maracyn2 will also cover against any possible bacteria infection
-
another possibilities is a viral infection that would explain why it keeps coming back or some type of cyst what you can do is a course of maracyn2 in food as the active ingredient minocycline has proven effective at shrinking some types of lumps and a small amount of aquarium salt 1 table for 5 gallon
-
Looks like a prolapse it's common in livebearers caused when they are straining to give brith the Best treatment is Epsom salt baths 1 table for 2 gallons for no more than 15 minutes for a couple of days as Epsom salt acts as a muscle relaxant to help your fish reabsorb the prolapse @RichNJ

Red spots an be a sign of a bacterial infection i would recommend treating her with kanaplex I would recommend adding paracleanse to food if you need to treat in the future it's more effective and shouldn't harm your cycle
-
Could be a cancerous growth or a viral infection such as lymphocytis can cause growth's like this or it could be a fluid filled growth what I would do is a course of maracyn2 in food the active ingredient minocycline has proven effective at shrinking some types of lumps and add aquarium salt 1 table for 3 gallons that will help reduce any possible fluid buildup
-
Looks like it could be an injury caused by rubbing on something in the tank is there anything in the tanks such as rocks or wood which is causing the injury

I can't tell if this is Ich, coloration, or something else
Colu replied to fishbish25's topic in Diseases
If the spots haven't gotten any worse if he's not excepting food then I would do a water change and do a course of kanaplex if you don't have live plants I would also add some aquarium salt 1 table for 3 gallons as well just remember to only put back in the amount of salt you take out so if you do a 3 gallon water change put 1 table spoon of salt back in -

Colu replied to Corbidorbidoodle's topic in General Discussion
fish found with diamond tetras ancistrus brevifilis corydoras aeneus aequidens pulcher corynopoma riisei wolf fish crenicichla geayi wild guppies -
I would just leave them a lone reduce feeding of frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia that will significantly reduce there population for a week or two
-
What you want to do is only put the amount of salt back in that you take out so if you do a 20 gallon water change put 4 table spoon of salt back as ich causes massive electrolyte loss the salt will add back in essential electrolytes ick x and salt is very effective treatment for ich

They hybridized with other species of aspidoras as a lot of species look very similar they readily hybridize when kept in same tank together
-
Yes only add the ick x back in when you do 1/3 water changes I personally only quarantine for 4 weeks and monitor them if you want to follow up the maracyn and paracleanse I would leave it a week after you finish treating with ick x
-
I wouldn't use Methylene blue in your main tank it will kill your benefial bacteria I would just leave them to it as it there first spawn it might take them a couple of spawn's to get the hang of it @nabokovfan87

Colu replied to EVoyager31's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
I have water lettuce in all my tank what I have found is the lighting is the most important factor I just replaced the light on one of my tanks the difference in growth is really noticeable with the new light the individual plants are a lot bigger the roots are a lot longer
