  1. Great looking crypts!!! Glad to have you onboard.
  2. Hello @MichelleN, not sure where all the experts are but I want to at least acknowledge your legit question and offer a few thoughts. I run a 3.0 but on a much smaller tank so I'll leave your main question for others to answer. I fully support your plan to increase ferts, 7 ml of E.G. per week in a 120 G tank is going to leave your plants starving. Regarding the algae, a large handful of amano shrimp, otos and nerite snails will be your best friend in the long run. There is a lot of great information in this 3.0 Fluval thread but it seems to be losing it's momentum. If you don't get any responses soon I would consider reposting on the "plants, algae and fertilizer" link.
  3. Nerites for the glass, Malaysian trumpets for the substrate. Only downside to nerites are the white egg concretions.
  4. Glad to have you onboard @BackyardAngler, I spent most of my life in SW Ohio. That river you refer to must be the Little Miami.
  5. Nice looking clump of C. spiralis, is it from the Co-op? I bought a plant labeled C. Spiralis from from local box store, not convinced it's Spiralis so we 'll see in a few weeks as the submersed leaves are just now sprouting.
  6. After years of having my plants SURVIVE but never THRIVE I am going to tear down my 20 H and replace the inert gravel with aquasoil. The Landen has arrived and just waiting for the holding tank to cycle.
  7. @Guppysnail Thanks for demonstrating Vallisneria can tolerate RR, your vals look great! My vals were new purchases with healthy roots and no visible algae but apparently were significantly stressed.
  8. RR worked great for my Java Fern and various species of crypts but was not tolerated by my Vallisneria. A 15 hr treatment of corkscrew val resulted in total plant death in 72-96 hr. With the Italian val I reduced the treatment time to 7 hr but all the leaves were brown within 3-4 days. The Italian vals are sprouting new green leaves so I am hopeful they will survive. Val seems to be a very sensitive plant not liking Excel or even spot H2O2 treatments. Has anyone had similar experiences with RR and Val species? Maybe a short 2 to 3 hr treatment would be effective and tolerated.
  9. Glad to have you onboard @JamieB513, spent most of my life in Cincy before moving to TN. I understand you have an aquarium club (society) now that you might want to look into.
  10. Glad to have you join us @krislegitl, best of luck with your pet store endeavor.
  11. Welcome @Grandma shrimp, alot of shrimpers here. I kept a couple of Blue Dream for a while, beautiful.
  12. Greetings @Tomdobbins, anubias today........Java Fern tomorrow!!!
  13. Just a thought but I would consider adding many more plants to utilize the light, CO2 and ferts your are presently providing.
  14. Glad to have you aboard @Schuyler, 1 post and you already have multiple tank syndrome!
  15. Glad to have you onboard @Papafigs, cichlid lovers live here.
  16. Welcome @wossat, like the looks of your pond!
  17. Glad to have you @ApolloJoe, here 's hoping you have great success with your planted tank.
  18. Thanks, hope to see you there. Any idea who is heading it up?
  19. Glad to have you join us @MDZ, I have frequented a few of Atlanta's LFS while visiting my son in Alpharetta
  20. Found a 4" x 3" inch mat of fresh healthy Java Fern at a big box store selling for $4.99.
  21. Glad to have you @Nz1986. Healthy looking sword plant, mine seem to struggle for reasons unknown.
  22. Glad to have you on board @Pete H. May have seen you along that stream.
  23. Glad to have you on board @flyingcow. If a light came as part of your 36 G package it may not be adequate for a planted tank. There is a great thread in "Community Resources" on the Fluval Planted 3.0 LED Scheduling that most engineers will enjoy.
  24. @Patrick_G is right about feeding algae wafers. Mine would bump noses with cories to get a bite of Hikari algae wafer. Drop 1/2 wafer in at lights out and see if anything is left by morning.
  25. Glad to have you in the forum @Rebecca M, absolutely beautiful tank! Great example of what can be accomplished with low tech skill and experience. Crypts look very happy now, send us a photo once they are out of "re-growth mode". Willing to share your lighting and fert regimen?
