  1. Aw, I'm sorry you lost your friend, Bev. Those decisions are never easy. 🐟
  2. Have you started a thread on this? I'm sure you could get help with ideas for how to treat your fish.
  3. Found this on a thread about ram color. Think this is true? Source
  4. The plant in the middle in the back - it looks like anacharis. Did you plant that or did you just weight it down and leave the roots out? I just got some and was wondering how it does best.
  5. I've only heard about it so I duct tape the gaps in my lids. I'm sure there's prettier ways to do it, but this is the lazy way. You sure he didn't make it? They have a lung for air breathing. In the wild they go down in the mud in times of drought and they use their lung.
  6. Be sure not to plant the java fern or the anubias nana petite. The roots need to be exposed because those types of plants need to get their nutrients from the water column. They can be tied to the decorations in the tank with string or super glued on, but you have to get the super glue "gel" - look for cyanoacrylate on the ingredients. I probably spelled that wrong. The lily bulb should be only partially buried also.
  7. Right, I was like, OK. How is this even possible? What is going on? And while they were moving so slowly, they were still hard to find/catch for some reason.
  8. I had a dream that all the little snails I'm raising climbed out, and we were having a party and they were at risk of getting trampled by people. I was racing around trying to save them all and put them back in the tank. Also I have had a dream where fish were swimming up above the tank in the air, slowly, gracefully, business as usual. And also I have had dreams where I've kept multiple tanks in basements and stuff and then forgot about them, and when I returned to them, the water quality was so poor that fish were laying on the bottom gasping and stuff. And as hard as I tried, I couldn't recall the last time I even fed them or looked in the tank. Those dreams are awful! (I don't even have a basement anymore, but I did when I lived up north) What dreams have you had about the aquarium hobby? @Katherine , & I were discussing this and found we have some common dreams, so I decided to create a thread. @Guppysnail
  9. Oh my gosh, I've had the fish swimming in the air dream too! Like they were swimming up above the tank. Didn't seem stressed or anything? They were just swimming normally, but either behind the tank or above. (I don't even have a basement anymore, but I did when I lived up north) Now I'm curious, so I'm going to start a thread to see what other NERMs have had.
  10. Columnaris check-up: They’ve had a week off from any meds. Now I’m just doing level 1 salt.
  11. 20% twice a day. Because of ammonia readings; it was clear the 10gal was overstocked. I didn't have to overdose prime, but my measurement was eyeballing it for awhile, based on the little thread inside the cap. Now I have a pipette and get a precise measure. I'm sure it saves money too. So I guess that plus the little bit of water aging made a difference. Cory had said in a video that dechlorinators reduce oxygen. As snails got adopted out, the bioload became more manageable and the ammonia readings went away.
  12. I had a bad dream last night that all my snails escaped, and there was a party and a lot of foot traffic where they could be trampled by people. Needless to say, I didn't like that dream. Woke up and checked my lid. Duct tape still there over the gaps. Whew! 🙂
  13. I figured out they were snorkeling more after water changes. I was doing instant mix of Prime & water and dumping in. The fish don't care, but it seemed to bother the snails. Some would jump off the walls and lay on their backs, which was alarming. So I age the water at least 2-5 minutes now. I just go wash the test tubes out or something while the Prime sits. Now it's perfect. No one seems bothered whatsoever.
  14. Oh yeah, that's a good idea with the powdered foods @Guppysnail. I can't remember if it was you @Katherine or someone else that was swirling in just the Repashy powder. And since you already have that on hand, that would be a convenient option. But I would say let them clean your algae and when it's nice & clean then do powdery foods to coat walls. Also you can coat objects (ie: coconut huts, rocks, etc) with Repashy. Gotta do it right away when you mix it because it sets quick! When I moved the snails to the growout tank it had a bunch of brown algae, and they ate it all. Even the hair-looking stuff. They were a very efficient cleanup crew. Only took them 2 days, but that was just a 10 gal.
  15. How big are your fishes’ mouths? 🙂 Also do you have presponge filter?
  16. Aw. I clicked the + and then I clicked sell or give away an item, and then I put the listing under Pet Supplies because there was no Pets section. It think it took 2 weeks for people to contact me. Put some good photos and leave the post there. Eventually people will see it. Also I got an update already on the 2 adoptees! They are exploring. If that coral is real it’s a good calcium source, right?
