  1. Oh @BAT They are so cute!! Your breeder box probably came with a lid. You can remove the pest snails and put the lid on the box. For any clutches you do not wish to hatch, you can remove after 24 hours, freeze in ziplock, then crush, then dispose. Click my link below in my signature line for the breeder box guide. The turkey baster is your best friend. Remove uneaten food daily. Check removed debris for snails and return them to breeder box.
  2. @Guppysnail my tetras are too dumb to eat a coating off of an object. And only one or two figured this shish-kabob out 🤣. The black neons kind of got the hang of it 💡 but the pristellas didn’t understand. I forgot to pull it out before heading to hospital today so I guess it is now snail food. 🙂 Hooray for cleanup crew. They help forgetful people.
  3. Repashy community blend does not seem to be a good fit for my tank. Snoopy guards it very defensively no matter where it is and despite having his own portion. I put a chunk on a stick and it seems to help. Snoopy is king of the bottom. Nice pics today of him flaring. (Sorry for glass algae)
  4. @BAT my internet connection is back up. How are things going?
  5. We bred convicts before. It was awesome. Also mbuna cichlids. EXTRA FUN because once the eggs hatch the fish carries the babies around it its mouth. I liked waiting for the fish to open its mouth so I could see all the little eyeballs inside, peeking out. I did not collect the eggs or anything. They were usually on a vertical surface in a cave and the mbunas protected them. The only not passive thing was hatching the brine shrimp. Airstone in a tall mason jar. That’s all that we did.
  6. Looking back at those photos, looks like I forgot to sink the biowheel too. Probably nerves.. as storms climb in category, anxiety increases. This one went to CAT4 but fortunately once it made landfall it quickly decreased to CAT1. Everything seems to be ok though. I had enough other media and bb on the substrate/decor. Order placed for another nano pump as soon as internet came back on. 🙂
  7. Photo dump of the storm setup. The wetsuit + cooler was necessary to quiet (kinda) a d-cell emergency air pump. I ended up adding that on because a second nano pump had to go on the 29. Snoopy was opening and closing his mouth and I wasn’t sure if he was doing ok or not. He didn’t looked stressed or anything. But I was nervous so I dropped an extra airstone for him. Bonus pics of Mouse illuminated by the LED lantern we placed in the hallway so we could see where we were going. HOB media was put into breeder box to preserve BB. The ceramics caused it to sink.
  8. Internet is back up. How are you @rockfisher? I expect your power and internet are down too. The nano air pump ran somewhere between 52-58 hours on power pack. I left home at the 52 hour point and it was still going strong. Came back at the 58 hour point and it was no longer running. Still. Very impressed. And silent. Unlike the D-cell Emergency Air pumps. I had to wrap one in a wetsuit and stuff it in a styrofoam cooler for the noise level to be tolerable. 😂
  9. Not fun @Katherine Hoping for a speedy recovery on your hand as well as for your fishies that aren’t feeling well.
  10. Looks like internet is back on! Yay! The nano pump quit and I wasn’t home when it did to document it. So we are looking at between a 52 & 58 hr runtime on a 20000 mAh power bank. Awesome!
  11. My signature line has guides too I can’t help it. I love snails 😂
  12. @Katherine @Cinnebuns Can you also help @BAT in case I can’t get online? @BATI’m ok. Thank you for asking. 💗My dad is in nursing facility, he first went in for vertigo, now having physical therapy til strong enough to come home.
  13. You can crumble into a bare bottom tank or a breeder box. Or some people let them roam in the tank on the substrate, it’s just harder to keep track of them that way when they are small. You should crumble the clutch to assist the other snails out. Sometimes not all eggs hatch because some eggs have a harder shell than others, and the snails cannot chew through it. Crumbling is greatest success rate. @BAT I have no internet at home since I went through the hurricane. I’m connected now temporarily because I’m at a hospital. Stay in touch with @Guppysnail. She is very good with snail hatching and has had great success!
  14. Hey guys. At the hospital with my dad. He’s been in since Labor Day. There is wifi here so I thought I’d post a quick update. This nano pump has been going for 52 hours so far! I have power, but I am running this in a cup to see how long it will go. I’m so impressed with it! 😍😍😍 I’ve been without cable as well so it’s DVD time. I’m never opposed to a binge watch of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’ve been able to watch a little news while I am here at the hospital as well. A fair number of buildings are submerged, partially or completely. I lucked out, but feel terrible for the people in those areas. And NOT FUN @nabokovfan87. Had a similar issue earlier this year and had to have the drain field replaced. 😭 Going to visit with the family some more here but will post when I can get online again.
  15. Congratulations! You have baby snails! Crumble the rest of the clutch into your breeder box and dunk the paper towel in there too to make sure all the snails make it into the water. Offer powdery foods. Swirl in the water so the food coats the walls. Also they will eat the rest of the clutch. It contains calcium.
  16. Hi guys 👋 im sitting in a long drive thru line and hey! They got wifi! All is well at home but no internet. I spent 3 hours picking up sticks and branches in A PORTION OF my yard today. Fun! Lol No big trees down. just little stuff everywhere The neighborhood though- plenty of trees fell. 😳

  18. Hi 👋 I ventured out to find a drive-thru that is open and has power. Connecting to wifi while I have the loooong wait for my Arby’s banquet. I’ve been thinking about @rockfisher. I hope they are ok. I HAVE to say this- NANO AIR PUMPS are the BEST!!!! 😍 I have one going 12+ hours on a 20000 mAh power bank!! I’m going to let it keep running to see how long it continues. Thanks for updating the folks @Guppysnail
  19. Yes. That’s what I do. I buy fish and observe them in quarantine and only treat based off of what I see. Sometimes just salt as my preventative at the lowest dose (1 T/3gal)
  20. The MTS are nocturnal. Check the tank at night well after lights out.
