FrozenFins
Looks like maybe duckweed, uh-oh!!! If you dont want your tank to be covered in duck weed in a month, I would remove it. 2

Dawn T
Definitely duckweed. If you don't want that species in your tank, now's the time to remove it. If you recently brought in submerged plants, it might have come in as a hitchhiker. 1
Maggie
So, it's been two hours and consensus above says it's duckweed - has it propagated yet? 😃
Dawn T
Give it a day or two. LOL Honestly, though, once it takes off, it takes off like a bullet. I thin mine out every 3-4 days to keep surface water movement going. It reproduces faster than rabbits. I like it, though, and use the stuff I remove to fertilize houseplants.
Maggie
@DawnI have salvinia minima which isn't too bad, but it still gets around - I noticed a few leaves in another aquarium that weren't purposely put there. Duckweed seems to have a bad rep unless one has goldfish.

Brian
Duck weed. And why does everyone hate it so much? I have had it, either on purpose or by accident. You can control or manage it. Free fish food, some fish love it. Oh well Good Luck
Jungle Fan
Because it's duckweed, in by a leaf, in by the pounds of leaves.😄
Nana Finopolis
I don't mind if it's in a tank where I fish have that will eat it. I hate it in my tank that has a hob filter. The water output from the filter sends it toward the bottom of the tank so it's constantly "raining" duckweed. It gets stuck in plants also.
