What Would You Do with a 5 Gallon?

I decided to get another tank to grow a snail population to feed my puffers. First, is 5 gallons enough? Second, what would you stock it with? I want it to be a bit more fun than just a snail party house.

The first one wouldn't apply in your case, but the rest might.  Shrimp would be another good option if you're open to other invertebrates to go with the snails.

@JettsPapa oh I know. I read that multiple times. I'm looking for creative ecosystem type suggestions and insight.

Don't forget the neon green rasbora and the chili rasbora. Those are both very awesome little fish.

I was thinking that too, although my first attempt at keeping cherry shrimp resulted in a bunch of casualties.

I was gonna say, pea puffers! Until I relized you want snails. I have really been wanting a sparkiling gourami lately, maybe one or two of them. Some Celestrial Pearl Danios or Chilli Rasboras would also be pretty cool.

I'd fill it with lots of fun driftwood and anubias...the leaves are strong enough for the snails to climb on and there are soooo many cool varieties!!  I don't think there's anything wrong with a snail party house!  It sounds like a shell of a time! 😜

I'm getting just as excited about the aquascape so I was thinking really interesting driftwood and anubias too. Maybe some java ferns.

Yes! What's the best way to get them? I called a LFS and they said they don't have them or sell them. I have reservations about big chain stores but that's truthfully not based on much knowledge.

I breed pink ramshorns in a 5 gal for my pea puffer, though they're now in every tank I own; it's a good size tank, just keep up on water changes when the population explodes. I believe I got mine on Aquabid, it's been a few years.
