What is your favorite type of fish?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for a fish for my 10g when I thought of an idea for a topic, what is your favorite fish you have or want? My fav fish I have is WCMMs and what I want is a Mickey Mouse platy, just like them lol, so what is yours? Or your top 10 or 3 maybe? I see all the variety of fishkeepers, liking some things, trying new things and wanteing new things, I was curious so yeah what is your favorite  fish?

The only fish I’ve kept to date has been a nerite and a betta😂but with my hopefully soon next setup I’d love to keep chili Rasboras, sparkling gouramis, salt and pepper Cory’s and someday Bolivian rams 🙂

and I’d LOVE to set up an outdoor mini pond with WCMM or medaka rice fish!

After several years of fish-keeping I narrowed my preferences down to "fish with some brain cells", which  is apparently more important than looks for me :) Currently this category includes a trio of blood parrots, an angel, and a leopard bushfish.

I love Hillstream Loaches.  Cute as can be and its fun to watch them interact.  I also am fond of a koi Angelfish named Spot I've had for years.  His wife Goldie died recently...I think he's kind of happy about that as she was a bit of a bully.

I agree White Clouds are a must for me I have the gold variety which are so pretty. I would take corys as a close second they are so goofy plus they have given me an excuse to upgrade to another tank 😂

My favorite type  are wc dwarf cichild. Those with their natural colouring. Some species i have or will soon have include a. winkelfleck, b. cupido, i. bimaculata, a. ortega, m. ramirezi, a. cacatuoides (mean suckers), a. lineta, ...

I guess we are suppose to post a picture so this is my male a. winkelfleck:

and a. bitatina

and laetacara dorsigera

and ... well was going to do b. cupido but don't you think this is enough pictures ? I mean how many pictures do you all want ?  Oh well we will do the cupido family and that is it:

All photos are fishes i actually currently own; i have excluded pictures of fishes i owned in the past like this one:

I had to google this...what a beautiful and interesting fish.

Yes, they've got such unusual body shape, gorgeous pattern, and a funny/elegant way of movement! I particularly love that the pattern extends to the tail and the fins too.
This is mine when it was a lot younger and smaller (it's about 5" now, I think)

Your pictures are very clear and focus is perfect.  I'm curious about the plants and cichlids;  I was under the impression cichlids like to dig them up.  Your tanks say otherwise.  I like plants so much I avoided cichlids despite appreciating how attractive they are.

Depends on the cichlids. Dwarf cichlids are very content with plants. Angels and discus are too. African cichlids and severums like to eat plants. Things like oscars and other large South American just like to rearrange their tanks, no matter what you like.

so, very much a species by species thing
