  1. Aquarium Co Op has an article on how to do a Fish In Cycle. You might find this helpful Cloudy water is common in brand new aquarium set ups and is usually due to a bacterial bloom (sudden rise in nitrifying bacteria). https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/fish-tank-cycling
  2. I say small School of Chili Rasboras… with Anubias Petite Nana and Dwarf Sag… a mini scape!!!
  3. Tank maintenance. Oh the joys. Especially when it’s HOB filter maintenance day. All that work to clean the tank… to make it look pristine and crystal clear… only for your freshly maintenanced HOB to kick out a bunch of gunk and send it swirling through the tank when you turn it back on.
  4. You can keep the population in check (and by that I mean slow the rate at which they populate) by reducing how much you are feeding the tank, or at least not increasing the amount you are feeding to compensate for the new residents right now. Ramshorn don’t create a huge bioload. However, you added quite a few. Keep an eye on your water parameters keep the tank clean. The beneficial bacterial will increase as the snails grow, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t have any ammonia spikes initially due to adding so many. You should be ok though.
  5. Rarely do thermometers contain mercury nowadays. If the liquid inside your thermometer was red/reddish color then is probably either petroleum or Alcohol (most likely alcohol) and is in such a small amount that it will not harm your fish. I did find this…
  6. According to the 500ml bottle it’s 1ml per 10g You can always start with less and increase your dose as needed.
  7. I couldn't help but think "Super Secret Spy Decoder Ring and Xray Laser Glasses".
  8. I’ve been reading that they can live a long and normal life, but to keep water clean and keep a close eye. So… hopefully, little guy will be ok! Seems to me active and eating so, that’s a good sign!
  9. If your seams look like this, then just measure the edge (the darker area between fingers) for the glass thickness
  10. I’m not sure how they would recover? I don’t think they can regrow gill plate. But I’ll keep a close eye on him.
  11. Did notice after observing all the fish that this little guy is missing his/her left gill plate. I’m hoping this won’t be an issue and that he’ll have a long and healthy life. Did contact seller to make them aware (not for a refund or anything, but maybe just look over fish carefully)
  12. And they are in! They are little guys and can’t tell gender yet, but they look healthy and active. (No, I didn’t quarantine them… all the fish came from the same seller, so I realize I’m taking a risk… but I’m ok with it)
  13. It’ll be a few weeks/months… the guys are so little!
  14. When I had my Dwarf Lily (which I aptly named Audrey 2.0) it devoured root tabs. Every month I was surrounding it with 4 or 5. They are ridiculously heavy feeders
  15. Are you in Canada? Because I did see this… also… you can use eggshells. Clean them out really well, remove the inner membrane and dry out in the oven and crush them very fine. That would be your cheapest option
  16. Wow! They are beautiful! It was definitely a tough decision, but in the end I went with the fish that I’d been drooling over for months, lol. Maybe what I need is… ANOTHER 75g… so I can get Diamond Tetra and Praecox Rainbows 😂
  17. It’s a busy tank so far, especially at dinner time. Everyone seems to get along and play well together. Congos should be here in Thursday (yay!!) Ant melt has stopped. Oddly enough, I had the least amount of melt from the Crypts. The Buce was the worst. List one Buce completely, hoping maybe it will come back one day. Corkscrew Val and Regular Bal seem to be doing well. Java fern seems to finally be adjusting and has stopped making planlets. The Aponogeton Ulvaceus was very sad when it arrived. All the leaves melted but there’s a new leaf growing in, so there’s hope! Mango the Longfin Blue Eyed Lemon BN Pleco seems to have settled in. The lone Mystery Snail is also doing well. Has no problem mowing over a Cory to get to the Repashy. No one seems to have issues with sharing the Repashy. Lemon Tetras get fed separately, but will hang at the bottom of the tank to catch scraps wafted up by the bottom feeders. I'm so fascinated with this tank. It’s so entertaining to watch at different times of the day, but evening is when it seems the mist active- an hour or so before the lights go out.
  18. We use the Terro ant baits. Never had an issue and they are phenomenal at getting rid of ants
  19. Yep, I think you are right, now that I'm looking back through photos of my Ramshorn tank... Bladder snail eggs are yellow.
  20. I agree with @EricksonAquatics - variety is the best. I've fed my Bettas a staple nano Pellet like Xtreme, they also get Bug bites. Once a week they get Frozen Bloodworms, Frozen Mysis Shrimp and Frozen Brine Shrimp.
  21. I agree as well, those are snail eggs. Having kept both Bladder and Ramshorn, I'm inclined to say they are Bladder Snail eggs.
