Chick-In-Of-TheSea
Taking a video is quite the obvious reminder I need to clean my glass. 🙄 But someone in the video is helping with that. Chick-In-Of-TheSea
Trough on the HOB is dry, so the media rearrangement is successful. Also no noticeable detritus. This is great. I didn't have to buy any new media either. Many thanks @nabokovfan87 @Minanora @Brandon p Edited July 25, 2022 by Chick-In-Of-TheSea

Chick-In-Of-TheSea
I’ve always seen plants pearling on videos. The other day I bought a water sprite. Says it can be floated but I just dropped it in with the plant weight. It’s been in there since maybe Friday. Discovered some other forum members planted theirs, so I did that this morning, with a root tab. Look! It’s pearling! You plant NERMs are probably like, yeah yeah yeah.. but up to this point I’ve had Java moss, Java fern, micro sword, and anubias, and I never saw any of them do this. So this is a special moment. 🥰 Water sprite pearling" width="200">
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
I guess my Java fern became all spotty/black because of a lack of potassium? I wonder if Leaf Zone would be beneficial. As usual, my first thought is about snail safety (fish too; fish seem hardier though). I always hesitate when it comes to water additives.

I use GReen leaf aquarium potassium. Their site is on the web. Dry powder super cheap one ingredient so snail and fish safe. Also tropica nilogc makes a shrimp /invert safe one Edited July 26, 2022 by Guppysnail 1

Guppysnail
No that is phosphate which I have. The potassium is the K a tiny amount goes a long way. I use this dose calculator I think it’s linked to GLA https://rotalabutterfly.com/nutrient-calculator.php 2

TeeJay
I use the seachem potassium for my Java ferns. Usually does a pretty good job. And it is shrimp and snail safe. Edited July 26, 2022 by TeeJay 1
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
On 7/19 I used a root tab for the first time. Look at the little guy that popped up. I noticed it 7/27.
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
I took the background off. After 11 years. It’s weird. I don’t know. Do you guys like it with or without?

Guppysnail
I absolutely love it. I don’t use backgrounds unless it’s a display in front of a window. My fish seem more active and less nervous without it when I took one off so I just never used them again. I decided I preferred the look as well. All attention on fish and plants.

All good. works fine 🙂 I did my last one using the gap between the wall and the tank. It's a pain, but it's the easiest thing you can imagine.

Chick-In-Of-TheSea
It’s nice! I used a black trash bag and it happened to have a lot of static. I just trimmed it, that was it.
