There has been pleanty have posts on this forum of the amazing deal they got on an amazing pecie of driftwood.

Driftwood is very expensive, it can range anywhere from $20 to a few hundred.

Some are able to find driftwood in creeks, ponds, rivers, where as other may find their driftwood in the their LFS or a nearby hobbyist.

So what have been your amazing driftwood deals?

I got this peice for $10 at my LFS. This was because the tag had fallen off so they didn't know how much to charge me. I'm assuming this would be around $30-40. I love how many nooks and cranys it has, its great for shimmying plants rhizomes into it like anubais, or buce.

I’ve lucked into some pieces and paid too much for other pieces, but they were too perfect for what I needed.  I guess it’s all in how much you’re willing to spend, how much a piece grabs your imagination, or how well a piece matches the picture you have in your head.

I’ve visited all the local LFS in the Seattle area and found a shop that has some good deals, but the prices vary wildly.
For my 75 gal I knew I needed to economize somewhere so all the hardscape was gathered from Puget Sound beaches. I picked sun bleached and dried pieces well above the waterline. I was careful to gather in legal areas owned by the state and didn’t take any wood that was providing erosion protection.
This is my prize find!image.jpg.566893abdf02104dbc9bf889d91a1f25.jpg

You all have fresh water lakes…we don’t … at least not near me.  The other thing is we have the Everglades which is listed as a sanctuary and state park.  Don’t get caught taking anything from there.  Last but not least… @Patrick_G do you know what kind of wood that is by any chance? It is a great piece!

id be willing to bet we do t have it in florida. Same goes for @Casual aquatics piece which is as I already said simply magnificent. I’d bet it’s not here in Florida either.
I have seen some wood near canals and taken some home and boiled the crap out of it but nothing on the scale you both found!
that’s like hitting the driftwood lottery.  I applaud you both.

BUT YOU STILL SUCK!!!

And jetskiiers.  Some really good freestylers from your neck of the woods.  Doing double back flips in the big surf!

Sadly, not my neck of the woods any longer.

Had to move back to Tiwa Lands, needed better health care.

Benefits of living in the desert?

Manzanita and cholla are just a hike away.

Manzanita and cholla is a pretty good trade off!

The desert is excellent at baking the sap out of pine, too.

Colors the water up almost as nicely as some of the wood we got out of Florida in the late 80's / early 90's before the state realized that the Everglades shouldn't be drained no matter how much developers offer.🙄

Used to go lift wood off the burn piles.

I’m in central Oregon so I have local manzanita and other hard scape in most of my tanks. It’s rare in the areas I go with family to see large pieces like you see on the internet.
Best deal on non-manzanita wood was when I got my 45 g it came with 3 very large pieces of Malaysian driftwood which would easily have been north of $100 and it was a throw in - they were covered in Blackbeard algae but some liquid carbon, h2o2 and SAEs took care of that over 2-3 months. $200 for tank, stand, wood, ac 110, Eheim heater, and about 12 fish. Love me some Facebook Marketplace!
