  1. This post was originally dedicated to my 35 gallon hexagon that I refurbished but I have decided that it is now the journal for my MTS journey! I hope you all find my MTS entertaining or aspiring as I grow my aquarium addiction! So I acquired an old 35 gallon hexagon aquarium from a friend that had been sitting empty and unused for quite a few years. The tank leaked, the stand had mold or mildew in the wood and was just over all in pretty rough shape. I stripped all the old silicon out and resealed the tank. Sanded and painted the rims. Sanded and sealed the stand with Killz and then painted it black. I replaced the old hinges with new stainless ones and added a matching handle. The tank did not come with a lid so I made a custom one from a plexiglass. Got it all scaped up. Now I'm waiting on the fish to arrive. Let me know what you think!
  2. Hey all, I'm looking for a little advice I recently bought a used Oceanic Systems 60gal Hex and I'm planning to reseal it. The last owner also resealed it (did a sketchy job by the looks of it), and he had it running for something like 20 years. As I was cleaning off the old silicon, I noticed that the seams had little bubbles in them but were not foggy at all. With a tank this old I would opt for a rebuild, but given that its a hex and was very high quality, I'm not sure if that is necessary. I've attached pictures showing some of the seams, they are all in similar shape. The tops are worse then the bottom, but I will be adding the trim back on. What do you guys think? Has anyone rebuilt a hex before? Thanks! bonus pic of my 40 breeder
  3. Got this acrylic hex tannk for just $20! Couldn't pass it up, I'm starting to love acrylic tanks, and especially when they have the dark background. It's a little scratched, but ah well, I already polished a 100G one, so this will be a breeze haha. The seller didn't know the gallons, but I'm guessing around 20-30g? What would you stock in here? I was thinking some angels but I wonder if its too small for them. I already have tetras, guppies, mollies and gouramis. Do you have any suggestions as to what fish might like the odd proportion? Something that likes the vertical lenght hehe. Water bottle for scale lol.
