  1. With floaters and stems the issue will always be not enough nitrates. What kind of crazy test kits you guys have that can detect .5 nitrates?
  2. I am also of the semi controversial opinion that nitrates under 100 ppm are not dangerous to fish I usually have to clear them out every 2-4 weeks so even if the go up a little it still averages under 20 ppm. If i didnt have any floating plants i would just get a big hair algae bloom and that will eat the nitrates.
  3. I rarely water change. I keep floating plants so nitrates are always low and the water out here has such high alkalinity ph crashes are a non concern.
  4. It really depends of what you want to stock. If i was doing angels, id rather have the 55
  5. The coop has some vids about which fish to get at petco/petsmart, but most importantly watch their videos quarantining fish
  6. My tank is doing well but im to lazy/busy to take any pictures
  7. Put in 2 repashy foods at opposite ends of the tank
  8. All i ever see is ppl using chatgpt to cheat on tests and homework, so its nice to see someone us its power for good.
  9. Aquarium co op makes an autofeeder. Autofeeders have their issues but the alternative is the fish not eating for a month
  10. If you have fish in there and they didnt all immediately show signs of stress or die, then its fine, do a water change to be safe of course. If there are no fish, dump out all the water and refill it.
  11. Buy an autofeeder and everthing will probably be fine. If its a small lidless tank most or all the water could evaporate
  12. I dont watch to much of his stuff but the secret history living inside your aquarium has a vid on mixing bettas and it goes a lot into the science of it, so i would give that a watch. There are a lot of factors that go into whether itll work or not, even the color of the bettas. Most betta sororities fail so do all you can to improve your chances.
  13. Is this a medicinal thing? If so, what does it treat?
  14. So floating plants are easy and quick to produce, and difficult to ship. Does this make floating plants a decent side hustle?
  15. I think cory says 1 tbs per 20 of marine salt is beneficial for plants. Try to wain your mollies onto less salt
  16. Use it on a garden or housplant
  17. A lot of reef lights can be used as freshwater lights by turning down the blue
  18. Basically the water your removing has the wrong ratio of neutrients, while the ferts have the right ratio of neutrients. People could probably get away with change water less and dosing ferts less, but its easier to just change water and dose ferts every couple weeks for most ppl.
  19. Yeah i understand how your feeling. A few weeks ago i was really struggling with a class and then my fish started having swim bladder problems. And i also think your completely in the right personally.
  20. If it wasnt for you the parents wouldve never been healthy and happy enough to breed in the first place. As time goes on youll be able to save more and more.
  21. So, I see post here and on reddit occationally who feel guilty about how they keep fish or think that they are a bad fish keeper. So, i want to say what i think a good fish keeper is. If you think you are a bad fish keeper, than you are a good fish keeper. Basically, if you care about your fish at all, you are a better fish keeper than 90% of fish keepers out there. To most people, fish are like a joke pet. They put a gold fish in a bowl and it dies after a week and think nothing of it. So if you feel guilty bc of an angelfish you've had for 2 years died of some disease, you are light years ahead of almost all fish keepers. If you are reading this, you are a good fiah keeper. If your here, it means you are trying to get better at fish keeping. Most fish keepers are not. Most fish keepers keep fish for a few months, and after killing a bunch, they give up and move on to something else. If a fish is bought by someone on this forum, they are an extremely lucky fish. If you enjoy fish keeping but are considering giving up the hobby bc of some sense of guilt, i plead with you to reconsider. Fish and the hobby are better with you!
  22. I dug a little into your posts and i think your tanks look good! I mean you have a thread about breeding cories you clearly know what you are doing. Ppl on this forum often ask for your advice specifically. Is anyone asking for the advice of this rando hating on your tanks? Don't take other ppl to seriously. Your fish are lucky to be in your care!
