  1. Thanks. My water are PH 8 and KH of 12dg. and GH of 18dg.
  2. What are your water parameters please? I want to have Rams but always was told that my water are not good for them. Thanks
  3. If you think that it is too costly don't buy. Look at JBL products, they might do the same for less, but they are also not going for pennies.
  4. What Is your PH? Bosmani are hard water fish. I suggest a 40% water change. My 100gl. tank is nearly all rainbows and don't have any issues. My parameters are PH 8, Ammonia and Nitrite 0 Nitrate 25-50 KH 10-12 GH 18. No CO2 and very good surface agitation.
  5. I have just started to get rid of Black Algae in my tank, it got to a point that nearly all plants were covered as well as wood. Did not use any chemical but changed ~40% of water every week and after 3 water changes inserted a bag of Phosphate remover into the filter, a week after I started with the Phosphate remover the algae started to disappear.
  6. Thank you. This is what I did.
  7. Hello everyone. Today I have noticed that some of my fish have White spots on them. Yesterday I have changed water and inserted a bag of Phosphate removing resin as my level was 2ppm (tested today and it is down to 1ppm). My question: Do I need to remove the bag before starting with medication? Thank you Ben
  8. One of my filters is 20ppi and the other filter is 30ppi. The 20ppi pre filter used to be clogged very quickly and had to be cleaned about every 2 weeks as the flow became restricted while the 30ppi remained clean.

  10. Please explain with more details. I want to have a 300ltr. black water tank but my problem is that my tap water are PH 8, 40ppm nitrate and KH 20. Do you add salts/minerals to the water? What substrate do you use? Do you keep plants? Which? Thank you
  11. This is something that i didn't know. I wonder if fish in the wiled suffer the same.
  12. Thank you Colu. This was also my conclusion. The fish died overnight and I have looked at it with a X10 glass. The gills were one lump and didn't have any blood in them. I talked with the LFS and was told that rainbows do suffer of tumors.
  13. The saga takes a twist. After time in isolation, observation and medication it seems that the fish got better so today I re-introduced it to the display tank. Once this was done I have started to clean the quarantine tank and syphoned the water when something caught my eye, just a small movement, there was a fish fry, probably about 1.0 - 1.5mm (1/16") long. So... Fish goes mad, I put it into isolation, fish recover and find fry. Does it make sense?🤔
  14. It is too late for ammonia as I have changed about 30% of the water yesterday. In any case i attach better photos.
  15. No, didn't test for ammonia. It is red and seems to be out of the gills cover on one side only, also, the only fish with this anomaly. Last weekend I have changed about 60% of the water and about 25% today.
  16. This evening while feeding the fish I have noticed that one of my Melanotaenia Nigrans suffers as of something that looks as the gills on one side are out and the fish breath faster than the rest. What do you think? Can I do something about it? Sorry for the poor photos. Thanks.

    Esha meds

Just used both together to treat my sick (?) fish, 3 days course. Now a week later the fish seems to be happier.
  19. I think that you worry for nothing, my Amanos also have these marks and they live happily ever after.
  20. Can't tell what it is but it is not a White Cloud Minnow as I have some of them. My first thought was a type of Carp. It is the wrong mouth for Reticulated flying fox, so no, can't be that one.
  21. Two weeks ago I have added 11 Silver Tip Tetra (Hasemania nana) and two Spotted Butterfly Loach. This fish is the only fish with this behavior pattern. Will try to catch it, however, imagine an aircraft doing aerobatics in a very tight airspace (also, read the end of this post) 🙂. No rubbing. Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday, I have separated the fish and positioned it into a tank with fresh water and acclimatized it for about an hour inside a plastic bag. The fish was breathing very fast, performed its erratic movements and seemed to be left with no energy. I have added antibiotics (eSHA 2000) and anti Fluke medicine (eSHA gdex), this evening, the fish seems a bit better, breathing is normal and this erratic movements seems to be controlled. I have given a bit of frozen food (Coppipods). an hour after feeding second dose of medication went in, so all in all, there was a slight improvement and I hope that it will survive. Thank you all for taking the time to reply.
  22. Water change was on Sat. I have transferred the fish to another tank with fresh water and added anti bacterial, just in case. However, I don't think that the fish will survive the night.
  23. Hello all. A Forktail Blue-eye Rainbow / Pseudomugil furcatus female has started to swim in a very strange way. If you imagine a box 1.5"X1.5"X1.5" then the fish swims inside it erratically in sharp and fast turns for 2-3 seconds, then all go back to normal and after few minutes does the same thing again. I have tested ammonia and nitrite both are '0'. Any ideas? Thanks
  24. Thanks Colu. I have suspected that it is internal infection but didn't know which med to use. Will buy the med. and keep in case something like this will happen again. Thanks again Ben
  25. The fish was quarantine but died this evening. I attach 3 photos, two show the fish on its own and the other as a comparison to an healthy fish. Am still interested to hear opinions regarding what could have gone wrong. Thank you.
