  1. I'd suggest adding backing to the tank. I paint the back and some of the sides of my tanks. I think it gives the inhabitants a sence of security. Cuts down on odd shadowy reflections as well. 🐠
  2. Tadpoles appear to like browsing through the gravel for food. They like the wafers! Hopeing to grow Triops again... after the Tadpole adventure! The trick is going to be, moveing these guys outside before they hop out of the tank! . Any one have experience with Tapoles?
  3. Regardless of what we call them, I believe they are an intricate part of why this tank is so alive.
  4. Dragon fly larvae in the Tadpole tub!
  5. @Biotope Biologist My rubbermaid Tadpole tub, next to the Wine barrel pond! I just set it up early spring with some rocks, water Hyacinths and a piece of driftwood...the frogs do all the work and. Presto! Tadpoles! We did have a Dragon Fly emerge last year in the pond! So cool to watch! 😎 @Tony s That looks like a great Brook Trout snack!
  6. Cool. 😎 I'm in the process of setting up a small tank of local native species and Caddisfly nymphs are on my list of things under stream stones to put in the tank.
  7. @Cinnebuns. Ok, I haven't had that problem and was wondering what the concern was. Thanks
  8. I have one of the metal framed stands. Rated for 660 lbs. Incredibly sturdy. The wood is medium density fiberboard (MDF). Well designed for my needs.
  9. I have a 6.8 gal. With a lot of plants. I think that's why I've been able to keep Cherry Shrimp, Ramshorns, 3 male Guppies and a Hillstream loach in such a small tank. I use 2 nano sponge filters and a 25 watt heater.
  10. @cmo1922 Don't be afraid! Give them a try and see what happens! I think you'd be surprised with what works!
  11. Detritus (black worm?) worm, pokeing up out of the gravel..." Hey Shrimpies! What's for lunch?"....
  12. Baby Shrimpies everywhere! Gonna need some help counting them! Let's count the eyes and divide by two.....
  13. Useing a small flashlight to see what was going on in the nooks and crannies of the tank.. I noticed the worms are definitely light sensitive. 🤔 They dart back into the gravel and the ones I can see in the gravel, move quickly out of sight!
  14. They would make great fish food. What would be a good couple of little fish for a 7 gal tank? 🤔
