  1. Sorry I didn't mention the they are neocardina and my pH is 7 and GH runs 120 KH 40. Thank you for all your advice πŸ’œπŸ¦
  2. I use Kat's Aquatics calcium supplement/food to feed my shrimp calcium and other minerals. I absolutely love this product. Swear by it!!!! I also add Aqueon Shrimp Essentials to the water with every water change. I started using shrimp essentials in my first tank with shrimp before I knew about other calcium supplements. I have no issues with molting and every tank is full babies. My question is do I need to continue using the liquid shrimp essentials if I'm feeding calcium? They say if it's working for you don't change it but the shrimp essentials is really expensive and my aquarium numbers and shrimp collection only keeps getting bigger. I go through a lot of it at 5 mL per gallon dosage. What do you think??? Thank you for your time!!!!!
  3. I swear by Kat's Aquatics calcium supplement/food. My shrimp love it and it doesn't cloud the water. Other than a few fresh veggies it's all I feed my neos and I have babies in every tank!! Excellent product!!!!!πŸ’•πŸ¦
  4. Thank you. Is there some way to actually tell if shrimp carry the worms? What would that look like? Thank you for the chart. I've dealt with most on this list unfortunately, plus a few problems not listed 😞. My understanding of this parasite is the life cycle without a host fish is around three weeks. I'm hoping at the end of the month I should be good. You say it is not common in shrimp but after all the issues I have dealt with in the past (some with your help solving ☺️) in my tanks, I want to avoid anything I can. Thank you again for all your advice!!!
  5. What am I monitoring for?? Are there symptoms I should be looking for in the shrimp? Thanks!!
  6. Hey all, I just got a few amano shrimp and they are in a QT tank. I have dealt with literally every disorder shrimp can have in my shrimp tanks so I really want to go be preemptive with this batch. What can/should I treat them with/for while in quarantine? I am especially concerned about camallanus worms based on what I have read. Though I am open to worrying about anything else that might be a problem 🀣. They look happy and healthy at this time, I've had them a week already. I am planning to QT them for a month. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!!
  7. Hey all, I just cleaned my quarantine tank and unknowingly used Low Splash Bleach. How bad is this??? What do I do? I've been rinsing and rinsing with Prime but I read de-chlorinators don't work on low Splash Bleach. Do I need to toss the whole setup? I would really be upset if I killed a future qt fish before it even had a chance. Thanks for all your advice.
  8. Thank you, I forgot Seachem has info on their site. I use Prime all the time for water changes but I have an old Betta who isn't doing well and I thought I could add some Stress Guard to help her be more comfortable. Again thank you for all your help.
  9. Hey all, Hope this question is okay to ask here....... I just ordered Seachem Stress Guard and need to know do I still use Seachem Prime to dechlorinate the water? The Stress Guard says it removes ammonia. Can I use them both at the same time? I know you can redose Prime every 24 hours how often do you redose Stress Guard? Thanks for all your help.
  10. Hey all πŸ‘‹ Was hoping you could recommend the best larger capacity air pump. I'm recently upgraded my 6 nano tanks air pump to the Tetra 100. It's working but I feel it is at it's maximum potential. I like air, lots of air 😁. Currently running 5 medium sponge filters and 4 large air stones and an UG filter. I would like to add 3 more SF and several more air stones and want power to spare for future endeavors πŸ’œπŸŸ. The current water capacity all the tanks I want this new pump for would be around 50 gallons in 6 different nano tanks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your advice!!!!! πŸ’œπŸŸπŸ¦πŸŒ
  11. Thank you for your time. It seems your findings on the web have been the same as mine. I will keep looking too. Funny how it's considered an "easy" disease to treat. Guess I'm just lucky πŸ™„. BTW I did use Marks Dosage recommendation for the h2o2. I also followed the recommendation above and dosed the tank one time with aquarium salt prior to starting ick x. Would you stop the ick x now...... currently on day eight. More info for you, these shrimp are in a 1.5 gallon "hospice " tank I set up for them over six months ago because I thought they had muscular necrosis. You can kinda see the white belly in the second picture. I have not lost one of them so it must not have been MN because they say it will kill the shrimp within a week or so. Months after first seeing the white belly I finally treated with a product called CURE from Plamski Shrimp Farm that claims to kill 95 percent of all bacteria and they are still white inside but I'm now seeing berried shrimp and babies so it must have helped. Only happy shrimp would breed under these circumstances. It's always something with these guys. I feel bad for them ☹️. Again thank you for all your help.πŸ’œπŸ¦πŸŒπŸŸ
  12. I used one tablespoon aquarium salt to one cup aquarium water and they showed no sign of stress and all came thru it fine. I will admit the first time I used salt on these shrimp one didn't make it. I have tried using h2o2 at a dose of 1.5 cc h2o2 per gallon for five days in a row also just previous to my original post asking for advice. Also no change to what ever is affecting these shrimp. I'm concerned they are going to start glowing green and flying around the room due to all the chemicals they have been exposed to over their short lives 🀣. I will try to add a picture. I have seen the poster every one points to about as shrimp diseases and what I see looks exactly like vorticella.
  13. Thank you for all your great advice. I salt dipped every shrimp prior to starting ick x treatment. I'm now on day seven of the ick x treatment and the shrimp don't show any signs of improvement. Still covered with vorticella. Any suggestions or do I just keep going with the ick x??? Thanks πŸ’œπŸŸπŸŒπŸ¦
  14. Hey all, I have been given wonderful advice from this forum, so here I go again. I have a permanent quarantine tank for some of my Red Rilis shrimp that I have been fighting a bacterial infection for months. I think I may have stopped the spreading of the bacteria but now my quarantine tank of shrimp has vorticella. I did a salt dip on each shrimp a month ago. Still showing symptoms I added hydrogen peroxide to the tank about three weeks ago but they still have white things on them. This is not japonica parasites, I have had those too and successfully treated them with salt dip. I treated the tank again (1.5 ml h2o2 per gallon) a week ago. They still have white specs on them. I am wondering if they might be dead but still attached to the shrimp. How long does it take for the vorticella to fall off and no longer be visible on the shrimp??? Should I treat with h2o2 again or do you have any other recommendations. Thanks for your time. BTW all tank parameters are good and I'm starting to see breeding (babies) in this tank. Thank you for your advice πŸ’œπŸŸπŸŒπŸ¦
