Struggle
The angels look to be getting ready to spawn again. I’m horrible at sexing angels so I have to take photos and then add text to differentiate them. I do like to try and guess so that’s why I put question marks until I can confirm. Below are a few pics of three different fish with my long shot guesses. 😂 Edited December 29, 2021 by Struggle
Struggle
They spawned while I was making the above post but I caught it towards the end. It looks like it will be a little froggy for the two other angels in this tank for awhile. 1
Beardedbillygoat1975
Beautiful Angels! Love that red and what a handsome couple. Are you going to pull the slate or let them try again? Can’t wait to see the progress on your big tank!

I have another pair from this same group that are separated out in a 20G tall that usually eat their eggs on about day 2. I may end up pulling them after Michelle and I go celebrate our anniversary this evening. The 180G is coming along nicely but has a bit of the new tank syndrome. I need to do a good cleaning and large water change. I’m currently trying to catch the ghost shrimp, freshwater prawn or whatever they’re called we put in for the eels to eat that weren’t eaten. I knew they’d grow fast but dang, they've gotten huge! I’ll do a update sometime in the near future. Still need to set up the top row of 20G talls. Thanks! Struggle
Lots of things going on in the fish room this past week. Added an additional air pump as the single unit was out of capacity. Removed the gaming table and installed a butcher block counter top and shelf. Added 7 more 20T to finish out the top row of the 180G rack. The 180G has a bit of the new tank syndrome going on with a small bit of ick and plants are melting a bit. The C. bleheri rainbows, eels and the devil 👿 shrimp seem to be doing well. Please ignore the devil shrimp trap water bottle. We’ve caught quote a few of them but there is probably at least a dozen to remove. Shrimp tanks are cycled and ready for their new inhabitants in the next couple of weeks.

Struggle
All the shrimp made it alive and well. They’re currently adjusting to their new homes and still need to grow and color up more but I think they’re looking pretty good for now. Atitagain
Your fishroom is very impressive! The variety of shrimp is awesome some very cool colors and patterns. You have so many tanks, will it be all about breeding? Or will you focus on show tanks? Love the butcher block work table. And you have a boxer! 😁 can’t wait to see more! I don’t want to make it a job and just want to keep it fun. We like messing around with the shrimp and may try to enter more shrimp contests next year. With shrimp I don’t have to worry about missing a BBS feeding etc, etc. They’re by far the easiest to me. That’s Miss Vashti! She’s pretty close to a boxer but she’s a Boerboel which is a South African Mastiff. She’s a great dog, a little drivey, very biddable and has a intense focus. We haven’t been to training in about 3 or 4 months and need to get back into it. She tends to get a little worked up without an outlet or a job to do. She’s just a little over a year old and is right at 98 lbs so she should fill out a little ore. 2
Struggle
Picked up a few SAEs to help with the algae outbreak in the 180g and as long as QT goes well they will be in there next week.
Veganville
I’m working on plans to build out a fish room, and I’ve been thinking about using unistrut. I’m curious if you’ve had any deflection issues or rust. I’ll most likely use galvanized material, but I might be able to use stainless. We’ll see what’s leftover on my next work project…

Struggle
I decided to organize the fish room after Aquatictimes motivational thread 😀. While doing this I confirmed what I already knew and that is I have way too much junk crammed in there. On the plus side I think I’ll add a 20T and 20L to the workbench for fry and breeding. Struggle
We’ve had enough of the ghost shrimp / freshwater prawn / whatever they are. We should of never bought the quantity we did. It looks like they are trying to scavenge on our fire eel with their little claws and I think they killed a C. bleheri rainbow. We started dosing Cupramine last night and will dose again tomorrow night. I’m hoping that we can keep the dosing low enough to not harm the spiny eels and just eradicate the shrimp.
Hobbit
Oh yikes!! Who would have thought? I had no idea ghost shrimp could do that. Do you think they didn’t have enough food so they were scraping the fish? Or were they being intentionally aggressive?

They ate everything that we fed in significant quantities. These guys a pretty aggressive and grow fast.

Those don't look like ghost shrimp, I have no clue what kind of shrimp they are. 😳 The pincer ended legs are tweaking a memory... Struggle
We went to the DFW Aquarium Association Expo and picked up a pair of Black Rams, (4) different strains of guppies, couple LF super red bristlenose and (3) SAEs. Almost picked up some Bulgarian Seal Point Angels but decided to pass since my daughter went guppy crazy. There was a really good turnout and we really enjoyed it. We also took about 40 albino bristlenose to the LFS and loaded up on frozen foods. I wanted to take the breeding pair so we could do something else with the tank but Michelle wouldn’t have it so I guess we’re still in the albino bristlenose business.
Struggle
It’s been a busy weekend. Our angels are starting to clean off the slate so figured we’d pull the eggs this time since they continue to eat them. We set up a 20T on the work bench to give it a try, fingers crossed that we can get at least a batch out of them. The new rams came out and displayed while in QT and I’m really liking their dorsal fin extensions. Finally gut a decent photo, sort of, on the long fin green dragon as well. One of the female guppies dropped fry while in QT today as well. Edited February 7, 2022 by Struggle 3
