Sleepy
Some people consider them pest snails but a lot of people like them I personally like them and think they are good for a tank as part of a clean up crew.
T.H. Fishkeeping
¨pest" snails are the best at cleaning up algae and other bits of uneaten food
Ben Ellison
Snails really are only a pest if you overfeed or are making massive amounts of algae.
Jollypop4321
Lucky you! I just purchased some red rams horn snails as part of a clean up crew. They are very interesting In the aquarium. I like the color they add. And the algae they eat
FriendlyLoach
They are great. I would not hurt them (I feed my pest snails). They help the ecosystem.

Daniel
@subramn, yes they come in as hitchhikers on plants.
Steph’s Fish and Plants
I personally like rams horns because I have puffers and they’re a great food source, but to each their own. They can come as hitchhikers on plants or decor that’s from another tank, if you swap equipment in tanks etc. they will get to a fairly decent size, but they do a great job of keeping algae at bay and consuming uneaten food. They can also be a good indicator of how much calcium is in your water, if their shells start looking pitted or damaged, that’s a good sign your tank is low on calcium. Ken Burke
I think snails are kinda like beauty. Its in the eye of the beholder. In this case, what are you trying to accomplish.
RickA
My kid wants to keep them.. We have 3 of them and i am just going to try to keep algae under control to control growth.. The shell look great with nice color. Just fyi and now we have Swordtail fry.. Its like the whole aquarium is coming to life.
Robert
I would agree, snails are only pest when in abundance. I like ram horns and there are several color and pattern types out there. Great for puffers and certain loaches too.
