Check them out if you get a chance. He doesn’t stock them because of the price. I totally understand that because nice quality Red Phantoms like Aquarium Coop had earlier this year are almost as vibrant but are much more affordable. It would be difficult to justify the Crystal Reds unless you’re a serious tetra collector. 1

They caught my eye at a LFS when setting up my current tank. Their bodies may not have lots of bright colors but I love their fins!
Ogpulchra
I once saw "blue eye gold neon tetras" and thought they were gorgeous. Pictures don't really do them justice. I plan on getting a school once my plants fill in. I think green neon tetras are underrated.
Flumpweesel
Really enjoying seeing some different tetra's some here have never been on a top 5 list. Also great to see real world pictures and get some behavioural notes

That’s it. He’s a nice guy and a world class scraper but I feel like he’s a bit shy. Tank Tested features him in a few great videos though.
lefty o
i like lots of tetra's, but if i could only have 1 in my tanks forever, id likely go with ember tetra's, as they go with about everything.

High level aquascaping isn’t my jam but I do respect the art.
Stacy Z
Anyone have the Black Emperor’s Tetra? Are Emperor’s less scrappy then Neons? After water changes all my fish get into sexy time and get super aggressive in chasing females and males of their kind. The Neons will smack the hell out of each other. Now that I can tell it’s when 2 males are after a female and honestly I don’t like it because sometimes it becomes bothersome for the other fish just chasing each orjer around friendly. BlueLineAquaticsSC
I really like Lemon Tetras and Silvertips. Not a tetra but White Cloud Mountain Minnows are also one of my all time favorites and would fit in with most tetras.

Streetwise
I think some of the appeal of tetras and danios is that they look so hydrodynamic, like they evolved to swim fast, or at least accelerate rapidly. They are also similar to the fish many of us saw growing up, in rivers and lakes.
