Lexi B
Does anyone have some advice for cleaning the outer glass of your fishtank? I have some hard water stains on the outside from a few messy water changes, but I'm too scared to take any glass cleaner to the tank itself. How do you get them off? ARMYVET
Hot water and a scrubber sponge then use a squeegee.
lefty o
if hot water doesnt get it, a little vinegar on a rag, then rub the hard water spots. dont spray it on the tank, but on the rag then rub the tank.
tonyjuliano
I make my own “fish-safe” aquarium glass cleaner. Here is the recipe: 4oz Distilled White Vinegar 4oz Distilled or RODI Water 1oz 90% Isoproplyl Alcohol 2 drops Dawn Dishwasing Liquid Put everything into a spray bottle and you’ve got the best glass cleaner out there. Inexpensive too. Edited June 25, 2021 by tonyjuliano
Brandy
If they are really crusty, and the tank is glass, I am a HUGE fan of a WET razorblade. Be sure to keep it wet or it will scratch the glass.
Guppysnail
I use these and wet them with bottle water or distilled water. My tap is liquid rock hard and they take it right off
Beardedbillygoat1975
I use a microfiber cloth and Ecos glass cleaner which has nothing offensive to fish or inverts. It’s basically the recipe @tonyjulianouses you over the counter.

Thank you for the recipe, awesome info....any issues with using 70% Alcohol?.....the 90% stuff is very hard to come by here! Nuggets Beard
I use distilled white vinegar on a rag. Just put some on the rag and wipe. Then I do a "rinse" with just water on a rag. Then I follow that up with the Fritz glass cleaner. That stuff works great.
