  1. Definitely not an issue and means you control the nitrates via dosing. What is your water change % volume and schedule?
  2. Remember those ronald mcdonald things on a bench...... I wonder if they can make one of Cory and have him sitting on the bench outside. People can always get their photo taken with him 🙂 .
  3. Black or frosted white... 100% Measure the height of your tank and buy a roll of it, you'll thank yourself whenever setting up the next tank. Without: With:
  4. I had this happen.... Make sure you pull off that inner clear plastic you're supposed to remove. I realized after all the hassle my tank still had grid lines. Much easier the second time around. Extremely nice texture on the stone! Awesome find.
  5. Yes. They love it. I use soilent green and bottom scratcher. I would recommend making it a slightly more loose food for them to make it easier to eat. 3:1 portions or even 3:1 with a splash more.
  6. @Patrick_Gif at all possible, let's see that thing lit up at night! Some of us may never see it, and that thing is just epic. Very cool to see and thank you for sharing!
  7. Fish will learn that they won't survive on the glass. They also can spawn a ridiculous amount of eggs to cover for a major amount of losses. Mine used to spawn on the glass and don't anymore. The massive spawns I've had was literally on every different surface in the tank. They basically test, try to have success, try a new location if it fails, or they just literally go bonkers everywhere. At some basic level they lay where flow is to their preference.
  8. Looks good. Ridiculous how much bigger the new one is. 😂
  9. @GoYankees10hwhat do you have on hand for meds?
  10. Salt is fine to start with and wont hurt or harm anything. You can also add in IAL to help out with that too. Not easy, but are you able to verify the fish can eat and that there's not something stuck in the mouth?
  11. I would treat the whole tank. That's what I did and it's more peace of mind than anything. They (worms) get everywhere and the cycle is that you have to treat, siphon the worms, rinse and repeat over a few weeks. I would imagine that it is possible for other fish in that environment to become exposed, so you save meds and have a more reliable experience by treating and monitoring (and removing) those worms all in the same tank. @mountaintoppufferkeeper just went through it on one of his puffers. I went through similar stuff with my corydoras. Salt + Meds works really well and the method that Odd_Duck has prescribed me worked really well. I added in the salt when it made sense and that helped too. Of course, just make sure you do enough WCs to clear out the salinity when need be. Day 1: dose in levamisole (black out tank for 24 hours as it's light sensitive) Day 2-6: water change, dose in paracleanse + Salt and follow directions on box. Day 7+: Rest You can give them whatever amount of days off that you feel is best, some say to treat every 7 days, some say to treat every 2 weeks. I did 3-4 rounds. As much as 6 is recommended for a bad infestation. They look awesome! Very cool.
  12. Found the little bandit. @Minanora They want to grow again! 😂 (Not joking when I said they are a hivemind at this point). It's been 2 days of hectic rain here, hope you're getting through and doing ok with everything. I tested both of my tanks today to get a view of what is going on. I have both tanks with elevated phosphates from the craziness of the moss trim. On this tank I have almost double the amount (5 ppm vs. 3 ppm) I'll post results when I have them here for the sake of the project, but just keep in mind that BOTH of these tanks are the same size, same source, same method, same care, but with different substrate, plant load, and filtration. One is a high demand, one is a low demand. The purpose of this tank (and project) is to be low demand, easy, and without much fuss. This is the tank I want to sit back and enjoy instead of get in there and do massive aquascaping on. Panda Corydoras Tank (This Project) Temp: 73: Phosphate: 5.0 ppm Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: 10 ppm PH: 6.5 KH: 60 GH: 150 Black Corydoras Tank: Temp: 71.6 Phosphate: 3.0 ppm Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: 5-15 ppm (Difficult to read!) PH: 7.0 KH: 60 GH: 150 I can't really pin what's going on. What really stands out to me is the phosphates. I do think some of this algae thrives on added phosphates in the water. It could be just feeding too much, which is fine. I am going to cut back on the amount I feed given that the fry are a little bigger now and I did see some excess food. I have fed frozen this week, but nothing too crazy. The added phosphate could be from the wood, but it's not the type of thing where I have "more" in the one tank compared to the other. We will have to see how things change over time. Interesting stuff.
  13. both videos I saw, they both used 3/4". Cory has mentioned of NOT getting anything specially treated so those chemicals don't drip into the tank. I believe that's on his cinder block build video.
  14. I tend to prefer / lean towards these: Single Dual A lot of them should be steel, don't get aluminum. Not strong enough. But the main difference between these two is the torsion force strength. You have a lot better rigid strength with the "dual" side of things because it's just thicker steel. Yeah, it's slightly more expensive, but if you ever want to get a 40B or 75G or something bigger, I trust that weight for the thicker steel compared to the cheaper versions. Yes, you can totally get the "more affordable" racks to work and Cory has that video from way back when and shows the dual 40B setup. It's beautiful. I just would want to have something slightly bigger and not have that weight on such a narrrow beam.
  15. silocone grease (used for diving and other equipment) is slightly more fish safe. Just a heads up. I use the stuff on pump impellers and it's designed for rubber gaskets, things like that. They have a liquid version, but the silicone grease works really well, cheap, and you'll buy it once and have enough for an eternity. Interesting little issue. Looks much better now.
  16. I'd love to get some green lasers and get the green to be a very, very, very, very nice green. One of my lifelong projects that might never make the light of day or sense to try to complete.
  17. Not my tank, but these are smaller than mine and it was nice to see some of that same identifying mark. Might be a certain line trait or something. Interesting. Far left looks like a female as well. Bigger / blotchier mark on the tale, as it grows the fish gets longer and then that becomes more of an oval.
  18. I have a two part answer.... A. The best corydoras is the one you enjoy looking at. B. If you enjoy the adults, and you don't have 20+ of them, you should get 20+ of them through spawning. It's night and day sometimes on the behavior, the atmosphere of the tank and how that can lead to such a different enjoyment. Some that I recommend you check out that are fun and enjoyable...
  19. Hm... very interesting. We'll have to see what the minds have to say. Maybe a rogue superglue ninja went in there and got your anubias. The leaf in the back is the newest one, looks healthy there.
  20. One of the dean videos where he talked about his method years ago and compared to now.
  21. The big box store has these for 25% off those rocks right now. Online at least. I don't know if that's helpful but thought I'd mention it. Very cool. I can't imagine a shrimp tank without them going over rocks and hardscape all day and little shrimplettes hiding around them. Lava rock has a good texture for them I would think.
  22. There are some forms of anubias that have a white pattern to them. Is the leaf itself discolored or is this on the leaf and you can remove it? It could be from the ceramic media or something and the leaves give it a place to rest. Either way, it's not anubias rot. You'd see the rhizome literally rotten / brown.
  23. Just finished up the bit of research, ordered some stuff for the project. New to me, never used it before, but hopefully it'll work for my needs. It's green. 🙂 So that makes me happy. I am still waiting for things to be available for purchase and then I can have a timeline for all the shenanigans and fun to start. Water change day tomorrow, so I'll go ahead and edit this post with some water testing results and figure out what on earth to do in terms of prep. I checked when I was at the store, they had some wood, but not much of anything. The 50% off sale picked a lot of the decor clean and it was slightly busy in the store this afternoon. Impatiently, unhappily waiting for this stuff to show up so I can hit the button and order it and start to have some fun.
