  1. It is fun! I love when we get to use veils because they are so pretty. Our last session ended a few weeks ago and we were working on a choreography with veils. 13 years of taking classes and barrel turns still make my brain short circuit. The dance is full of barrel turns lol.
  2. Yeah, that's my biggest problem with it. Probiotics do not help either.
  3. Back in 2009, I was bored and signed up for a few different classes at one of the local recreation departments. The one class I stuck with was belly dancing. Its way harder than it looks, yes there is proper technique, different styles depending on the country etc. I've made some really good friends and we have fun.
  4. Predinsone makes me jittery. My doctor gives it to me for sinus infections sometimes, usually when I'm coughing pretty bad or had it for a month and a half (don't yell at me). If I have to be on steroids much prefer the methylprednisolone dose packs. Sometimes though, they do keep me up part of the night. Try to take the steroids in the morning, unless your on the dose pack. Now, augmentin...I know its a hit it with a sludge hammer antibiotic but sometimes it causes intestinal issues. Currently on day 5 for a sinus infection and I've lucked out this time. Feel better!
  5. Currently, I have brightwell Aquatics Rio Escuro aquasoil capped with sand. Rio Escuro does not leach ammonia, which is why I like to use it. Yes, I have a bit of mixing going on but it doesn't bother me too much. I use the largest grain sand from Caribsea but pool filter sand should work too.
  6. For quiet, I would look into the Seachem tidal series. I have a tidal 35 on my 10 gallon tank that's right next to my bed. Once in a while there is a vibration\rattling noise. That's when I clean the filter and everything is fine after that. Otherwise, I don't hear a thing.
  7. @EnderRenthey are tiny and turn a nice red once they color up. I was going to buy some but fell in love with the white clouds. Just be prepared to move the betta into another tank if they spend all their time chasing the other fish. My last betta harassed my nerite snail all the time.
  8. Plants are always fun. In my 10 gallon, I have anubias nana petite, anubias barteri, crypt wenditi green, crypt tropica, jungle val (just added), an amazon sword, and a dwarf aquarium lily. There are 6 white cloud mountain minnows, a few pygmy corys, one nerite, and pest snails. I run a tidal 35 for filtration and a heater to keep the water at 74 degrees for the pygmy corys. Chili rasboras might be another good option for your tank.
  9. My sister and brother-in-law gave me a gift card to my lfs for my birthday. I bought new fish for my tank.
  10. Why not ask for gift cards? Amazon, the visa ones, maybe your wife can take a trip to your lfs for other family members? Bring the gift cards along.
  11. Root tabs are always useful. Along with air stones and a spare snail catcher.
  12. Mine is cut to the shape and size I need. The glass lid is a versa top from aqueon.
  13. Just search egg crate diffuser. You can buy it at you local big box home improvement store. It cuts super easy with a wire cutter. I made a small section for the back and cutout a section for my HOB. I'll post a picture of my tank lid and diffuser tomorrow.
  14. That's a good question. The blankets are meant to reflect body heat, stop sweat evaporation, and keep people dry. Maybe the padded car shields would trap a bit more heat? You would have to make sure the car shield can wrap around the tank completely.
  15. The cheapest way to get mylar sheets would be the mylar blankets that ems, hikers, backpackers, etc carry. They're super thin. Some are orange on one side and shiny on the other. You can buy them online. If you have an REI or other outdoor store nearby, mylar blankets are usually between $5-10.
  16. How large are the temporary tanks? Petsmart sells small 20-watt preset "betta" heaters. Maybe it would help keep the temperature more stable. I had one in my 3-gallon betta tank and it did well until winter. Now I just keep it in case I have to setup a small hospital tank.
  17. I have a lid and egg crate on my tank right now. The vinyl piece that came with the aqueon lid would not slide on, even after heating it up with a hair dyer. To keep critters in and the cat out, I added a piece of egg crate.
  18. Right? One store was enough for me.
  19. I chickened out lol. After having to venture to Best Buy to pick up a gpu, I decided to avoid people the rest of the weekend. The good news is we can finally get rid of the gpu from 2016.
  20. Fluval sells peat granules that you can toss in a media bag. I've used them before and they work really well. I dropped my ph from 8.2 to the low 7s on accident once.
  21. @anewbie your ten gallon looks fantastic! A big part of my problem was because I had a serious shoulder fracture in August. I did enough water changes to keep my fish alive but the rest of the tank was a hot mess. I think I may try to get another val jungle going. Could try some pearl weed too. I haven't made an attempt to keep that alive yet lol.
  22. Alright, I'm going to brave my LFS today. This could be the greatest idea ever or it's going to be so busy, I won't actually go inside.
  23. I've also found that bulb plants do amazingly well in my water. One time, I made the mistake of buying a red tiger lotus without asking how large it would get. It had explosive growth, completely taking over my 5 gallon tank in a month. That was an adventure lol.
