  1. That's awesome. Thank you for the timescale and pics. Now I have a little more knowledge and can set my expectations a bit more. Thanks again
  2. Thank you for the rough timescale. Have you or anyone else got pics of past and present to show how much it's grown in x amount of months? 🙂
  3. Hi everyone Im considering planting a pothos into my tank. Just wondered how quickly it grows? I know there are a lot of variables but should I expect it to go from 6" to 12" in a week or in a year. Just a very rough guide will help me set my expectations. Thanks :)
  4. Thanks to everyone's input. I didn't think there would be a problem but wondered if anyone actually has/does use them as they are really really easy to keep and would make another brilliant culture
  5. I've seen them in my LFS in the same tank together so I presume they'll be alright. Shops sell most of their fish in their juvenile stage so they always have a bit of growing to do which is good because you can see them develop and colour up.
  6. Hi all, I have a culture of mealworms that I use to feed my Yellow bellied slider as a treat. Are there any fish that I could also feed with them? Thanks 🙂
  7. I went to buy a used tank thsy was for sale the other night. They had stored it in the garden and had 2 inches of ice in the bottom. The seller didn't fill me with confidence in any way so I wouldn't of bought it anyway but used the ice damaging the seal as a reason not to buy it but it got me thinking. Would a couple of inches of ice in the bottom damage the seal at all? Would you still buy it? Has anyone on here any experience of ice damaging seals or s it fine? Thanks
  8. I've messaged our local branch of them but got no reply 😞
  9. I've messaged a couple of places about gift cards but had no reply from them yet. I'm hoping they do have the option of gift cards because then after Xmas I can go to the shop and pick some fish 🙂
  10. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I made a list up of things like sponge filters, thermometers, water test strips etc. So let's see what the kids get me. I would love to buy coop brand stuff but living here in the UK it's certainly not as easy. Let's hope in time they are available in my LFS. Thanks again 🙂
  11. Hi all, I've got decision paralysis. Me, my wife and youngest are travelling to spend Xmas with our eldest daughter. We want to exchange presents while there. We can't exchange what I want for Xmas (fish or shrimp) while there and a fish tank just impractical to travel with. Anyone got any ideas on what I can ask for? I need things off the shelf that won't die
  12. I'm sure someone has done this or tried it or looked into and not done it for X Y Z reason? It makes sense to have each tank or rack shelf on heavy duty drawers so when you need to catch fish or maintain you can Just slide the tank/shelf out. This would mean you can put more shelves per wall/rack. The issues I can see is airlines/wires getting pulled and the plumbing system if all linked or auto top up etc I know these drawer runners are expensive and when buying a few of them it would add up but surely regardless of these issues someone has done this at some point or am I just being stupid lol
  13. Thank you to all the replies. I've a few things to go on there. It's because of rising energy costs that I want to do it. If the heaters don't work as hard then it's won't hit my wallet as hard lol I'd not thought about a grow tent. It's a cracking idea but when a customer sees a grow tent in the corner they won't think it's for fish tanks so I think it's best i don't do that haha
  14. Hello everyone, long term listener (pocasts) and periodic forum lurker here with my first post. I unfortunately i dont have much time to watch YouTube but still a massive fan of aquarium coop and all the education and works you do for the hobby. I'm thinking of putting a fish rack up at my workshop. However has no heating and is cold during the day and it's very very cold at night, drops to single digit Celsius temps. I'm unable to insulate the whole place and no room to build a room so have the thought of building a rack and then boxing it in on the back and side with insulation and wood then on the front putting a front on made of polycarbonate sheet (or even wood+insulation) which can be removed during the day. This way the heaters would do their job and the box would keep the heat in. If anyone has any experience (or even better examples/pictures) of this idea I would love to hear from you. Thanks 🙂
