  1. A. MAZ. ING!!! I’ve never gotten as far. Bravo! Ever considered pulling the Parents / leaving the fry?
  2. Scheeli are growing out in the little 2.5 gal. here. Maybe 6-10 of them… And a few survive in the Colony, though many do get picked off…
  3. My friend is a manager, and gave me a few boxes of empty jugs 😂
  4. Someone reminded me of this classic sequence, 1983 Monty Python, The Meaning of Life, fish tank scene...
  5. Quote from the article... "The researchers wanted to make sure these animals weren't just getting trained to receive a yummy reward with certain images, but rather truly internalized how to add and subtract.” *Fish to Scientist, “Oh there are other rewards . . . you want to see how smart I can really be? How about the reward that starts with 'spa-' and ends with '-wning' ?"
  6. In case you missed it in the video posted by @Widgets, this is me in the high flow tank…
  7. Well - said! Admittedly, I’m not much practiced in thinking “outside the glass box,” but these videos are interesting!
  8. My guess: Clown pleco. L103 max 4” All good!
  9. Hey hey!! It’s a big moving day for these GBR fry. First the “dump”… Then the “chow”… Yay!!!!
  10. I’m not sure exactly which journal to drop this MISC killifish update in. Guess it will do right here…
  11. Hope you left this great review for the product on the website!
  12. Agreed! @gardenman thanks so much for sharing those videos. That's waaaaay more impressive than anything I'd ever imagined. Plus, as G. Farmer says, "They're breeding in there" re: Gold Nugget Plecos. Wow! I got an interesting response online the I inquired why few of them are reported as breeding ex situ: "In nature, Baryancistrus graze on algae all day long. Getting that kind of throughput of food, while maintaining maximum oxygen saturation (they are rheophile), low nitrate/nitrite levels that they like generally can not be achieved with filtration. In a flow through system perhaps we would have better success rates. There is another factor, fish of high value have more people trying to breed them. Today we have lots of people breeding zebra plecos, suggesting that they are easier to breed than any other Hypancistrus species - but it is just a question of how many people are trying. In the case of Baryancistrus xanthellus there is likely less than a handful of aquarists with a group of adults."
  13. Moved these BNP fry out into the 33 gal tank today. More Bristlenose than Killis in there now!
  14. Confirmed breeding pair! EBAs sitting on wigglers. This is so helpful for selling them. People would much rather buy a confirmed pair than “unsexed” assortment. And I, for my part, refuse to guess / lie about a pair being confirmed. Either they are, or they aren’t.
  15. Exciting day!! I’ve found Nothobranchius guentheri eggs a-plenty in my coconut fiber media. short story long… (1) My 10 gal breeding tank cracked, flooding my fishroom 🥴 (2) I pulled the spawning container, poured excess water off top, and poured out into a container with paper towels under and on top to absorb moisture… (3) Today, i checked the media, and behold! (4) Now I let it air dry some more, then carefully label a zip lock bag (species / date bagged / 8-weeks when they can be hatched out) (5) I place this inside a small styro in a warm upstairs room of my house (bathroom back shelf) Can’t wait til June!!!
  16. Mormyrus Longirostris I had to look these up. Very unique fish. Their overall adult size is too prohibitive for me to bring into my hobby. That electrical shock thing is fascinating!
  17. Are you referring to the fish food “dropping” down through the water column because shiners are drift feeders? Or some other parameter “drop”?
  18. And I like the option of those Hydor fans blowing back from opposite side as suggested earlier too. Interesting! Now I've got to build this some day . . . confound this FORUM! No way can I keep up with the fascinating project possibilities here!
  19. That's brilliant. Now I have to try this out . . . killing me here! So would you do something like this? Where the powerhead is redirected via PVC elbow up to spray bar?
  20. Thank you much! That's a brilliant little DIY. Makes sense. So are you imagining a powerhead leading up to a spray bar? (sorry if you've just said that)
