  1. I went through 5 10g tanks before getting one the glass to glass seals didn’t have bubbles or large gaps. In this process I realized the 10g I bought a month ago also doesn’t have perfect seal there… I guess I know why these tanks are so cheap now lol.
  2. This is my second tank set up. It’s a quarantine tank for sick rasbora. Kinda forgot I was intending to do a higher salt concentration when I was adding plants/moss. I didn’t have a lot to work with. Some plant clippings, some moss clippings, couple rocks and a little wood. I wanted to add crushed corral but it looks so bad on the black substrate I started or do a path, then realized I needed way more. So I ended up with kinda a weird pool and path, still needed more. Thought hey, it can look like a mountain lake running down to a pool. Nope just looks like 1/3 of my tank is white. Then I just started throwing stuff with bacteria in to help cycle the tank fast and gravel vac dirty tank water onto everything the sick rasbora have been schooling around with the light off doing figure 8s
  3. Good news first. Went out found several nice pieces of wood. Got a culture fire moss and magically ended up with a new 10 gallon tank. My chili rasbora don’t appear to have ich anymore. And it looks like the salt is clearing up the little infections I saw… Bad news, I’ve lost half my my chilis to the floor… left the water too full on the spec v last night. I think they came out while current surfing from the air stone and pump outlet. The lid doesn’t fit full flush due to a clip on light and the heater/air hose. Another major strike against this tank for me. Left the water a solid inch below the surface, just high enough to still make it into the super high filter intake…
  4. I’ve kinda tried both out for a week now. Facebook is nice because I can post videos for help. Facebook is ultra frustrating because getting a dozen hearts or happy face likes doesn’t help. Posting on the forum I’ve gotten actual advice and help. Facebook has significantly more activity but I prefer the thread and fish journal style of forums. Facebook comment threads are a bit of a pain to browse
  5. Now you gotta try the light with different bulbs
  6. They drop bad ones from my understanding. Constantly cleaning and picking through them.
  7. The little touch of white looks so nice.

    Velvet, ich, or?

    So happy to hear that.

Checking in to see how your fish are doing? I bought mine from them on the 19th. Today I’ve noticed mine look the same. I don’t think they looked like this before hand but I also had the lighting lower and they’re so tiny. Going to have to skip salt myself, have shrimp in the tank
  10. This was greatly useful thank you. They have grown like crazy this last week so I cut them down to less than half the surface pulling out much of the salvinia to give the rest a shot at thriving and help get to that normal gas exchange
  11. That brings me to my next question. If I’m pulling them all out to do my water changes once, sometimes twice a week, is that going to be problematic. In that case I’ll have to cut the population down enough to give myself a decent working area with out disturbing them. I’ll do some more research on gas exchange. My thought process was they would eat up the co2 difference and I still have sponge filters injecting o2
  12. Tended to my floaters that look to be almost out of space. Fished out possible duckweed. Found the spangles are out competing the red root floaters for surface area so I rescued as many of the red roots as I could find. Need to come up with a solution for them they’re rough shape now.
  13. I ended up trying to fish all that one out as it did look like duckweed too after a little more digging. Some of them had a single 1cm stem others were just a single leaf. ended up figuring out all my red root floaters are being pushed under by the spangles though.
  14. “Not yet anyway. We have been working for 7 months on our EASY SIP product and I think version 4 will get us where we wanna be”
  15. I made the beginner mistake of just buying a bunch of floaters off offer up with out asking what was in it. this big one with the yellowing leaf? hoping this isn’t duckweed but I’m pretty sure the tiny leaves here are this maybe my dwarf water lettuce? The two large ones to the right and then a general question. I keep ready they prefer still water but are the bubbles from two sponge filters going to be that detrimental to the plants? Do I need to try and put a coral around the bubbles or something to protect them.
  16. I’m finding getting light to my pothos to be a bigger issue than adding more ferts.
  17. Feel like there is going to be a video about this next week.
  18. Thank you 🙂 mostly got lucky with several good buys from keepers down sizing. Hopefully I can keep them growing
  19. Hard to be helped! I keep telling my self, the 5g will go into storage as a quarantine tank, but I really, really, wanna keep some neo shrimp and watch them thrive. Now the 10g, that came out of no where I can just convince myself it isn’t mine right. No mts here!
  20. I’m trying to keep my eyes on one shrimp. Idk if I have the heart to cull my tank. Unless they can survive within the other tanks I wouldn’t really have anywhere to move them to. I am anxious about color mixing, turning brown or just getting to low quality stock anyways. My youngest Amano keeping the heater in top top shape.
  21. Little late now, but is taking out the tannin source and boiling or soaking it separately an option? Water changes and that are the quickest way but the water changes may negatively impact the shrimps.
  22. Its easy to over think rocks. Especially if you have plants it wont be long before its hard to really see the nuances of the original rock. If "quite a while" is more than a month worrying has kept you from enjoying them. Nature breaks up rocks, wedges wood and plants in there. Sacrifice one to some hammering and use its bits to build around the other
  23. Something to eat the algae maybe a better long term solution than balancing another additive. Some hungry amano shrimp will munch on it
