  1. Are you using Week Aqua P series? I can’t tell but it looks similar to my light
  2. Hope everyone’s doing amazing. Haven’t really updated much because I know that I’ll be rescaping again soon and it might happen this weekend. I bought some stands from Wayfair and they will be arriving tomorrow and on Friday The plan is to move fish from the 20 to the 40 and fish from the 40 to the 60 which leaves me with an empty 20 long. Planning to do a planted pea puffer tank with about 15-20 puffers. The stand for the 40B allows me to put the 20 long underneath which is perfect for the space I have available. I’m also planning to use my empty 5g topfin retreat tanks for shrimp and I can put those below the 60B. Haven’t really done much to the tanks but the emmersed overgrown hygrophila has finally straightened out. There’s more light in the tank now. The plants in the 20 long struggled because I was medicating the tank for a couple of weeks before. But it’s starting to come alive again Also used this 5g container to throw in stems or whatever plant matter I can find in my tank that isn’t attached to something. It’s been growing pretty well. If I do need more plants I can just pluck from here and put it underwater. I usually avoid buying fish from Petco but I couldn’t resist the heart shaped tail of this guppy
  3. Alright will do this tonight. Thank you again @Colu 🙌🏼🙌🏼
  4. It doesn’t say on the bag and he also has a YouTube video but I don’t recall him specifying which meds are in the food. I sent a message to his Facebook page but I’ll probably get a response tomorrow. I’ve also looked at the comments on his video to see if anyone asked for the meds but nobody ever asked. I have fed them this food before when I was treating for something else and it actually helped. I haven’t had any issues for weeks until today here’s the vid in case I missed anything
  5. Noted! Also I have medicated fish food from Ron’s cichlids. Not sure if I’m allowed to post the link here because they also sell fish. But I took a screenshot of the description for it. It doesn’t specify what’s in it but it does say what it treats
  6. Yes. I have one of the 5g totes that I can use for quarantine. Do I treat with anything or just separate?
  7. Thanks @Colu! Also forgot to add that the scales are a bit raised that’s why I immediately thought of bloat and Epsom salt.
  8. Really worried about my clown killi. I just treated this tank about a month ago and since then didn’t have any issues but when I got home I saw one of my male clown killis looking like this. There’s also a wound on the right pectoral fin but when I observed him he is still able to use it. I was thinking if an Epsom salt bath but the wound on the fin worries me and I don’t wanna cause more hurt or distress.
  9. Just wondering if you use heaters for your shrimp tanks? I know it doesn’t really get too cold in SoCal so I was wondering if I can setup a tank without a heater for shrimp. I have one unheated tank with hundreds of ramshorn and pond snails that has been running for almost a year now. When we hit the coldest temp the tank stayed at 60f I already have some shrimp in my 40 breeder but they’re always hiding in the roots. I wanna setup a dedicated shrimp tank because I enjoy watching them eat and walk all over the tank.
  10. Added to cart! I’m gonna try the pre bent conduit since they’re already available but I’ll purchase thise incase I need it for other projects. Super affordable 😄 Thanks for the suggestion
  11. Currently eyeing two stands from this website. Has anyone bought from an aquarium stand from them? Curious to see what other users have experienced and if the stands are of good quality. I know I can just make my own stand but my current living situation prevents me from doing a lot of DIY. Thinking of getting these two stands so I can still use all three of my tanks https://www.wayfair.com/pet/pdp/kason-aquarium-stand-w100579988.html?categoryid=0&placement=14&slot=0&sponsoredid=2cd049cd89d7c0ffbd7743be3dff9a5829c43d25da6d9b5e43377eed01502186&_txid=I%2FcmXGXwwEceP5xW%2FCSBAg%3D%3D&isB2b=0&auctionId=d6ba9cb5-6b0b-41ec-bc45-d3ed88812378 https://www.wayfair.com/pet/pdp/archie-oscar-chickerell-rectangle-aquarium-stand-w100631904.html?piid[0]=1615216300 Not sure if I’m allowed to post the links but they’re not actual fish so I assumed that it’s ok. If not allowed, I apologize to the mods and I’ll remove them
  12. I’d be comfortable adding two pairs in there plus some schooling dither fish
  13. @MickS77 @A3M0N Thank you both! I’ll check those out and see which one will work for my setup. I really appreciate it 👍🏻😄
  14. I currently have all my lights hanging from a bracket like this I have drywall and I used some drywall anchors for more security. But since I live in an apartment I do prefer if I’m not drilling into the wall. I’ve used a conduit pipe before but it was already added when I had the stand made. I found a couple of stands on Wayfair that will work perfectly for the setup that I’m planning and I want to add conduit pipes or any sort of bar to the stand so I can hang the lights. My issue is that I don’t know how to bend a conduit pipe and I don’t really wanna spend an extra $50-$100 for a pipe bender. I was gonna do some pvc pipes, paint them black and screw into the stand. But I wanted to check on here for some suggestions on other methods or get some advice if the pvc route will work.
  15. I do have golden white clouds but they’re in my 40 breeder. I wanted another top dweller because my rasboras tend to stay in the middle. I also thought of hatchetfish but those are even more skittish 😂
  16. I chose the danios because I read that they’re always outgoing, they stay on the smaller side and usually stay towards the top of the tank, and I assumed that they would be similar to zebra danios which in my experience were never skittish. I’m actually planning to get a male honey gourami for my 20 long together with the danios when I make my choice. I also have some clown killis in the tank that aren’t skittish at all. They will actually bite my finger when I dip it in the tank 😂 But I think they’re too small to make the other fish feel comfortable. I guess I do need a bigger fish that’s always out and about. When I kept them with GBR they were always out and didn’t try to hide when I approached the tank.
  17. The fish in my 20 long are SUPER skittish. They’re mostly emerald eye rasbora and espei rasbora. Any movement will make them hide so I’m trying to get another schooling/shoaling type fish (preferably top dwelling) that will make them feel more secure. I’ve narrowed my choices down to Danio Tinwini or Danio Nigrifasciatus. I would prefer to get the smaller fish out of the two but not sure which one is smaller. All the google results from other websites have almost the same information. I was hoping that someone who kept one or both of these fish can give me some info on them.
  18. I just checked and it’s a bit pricey but a really good product. I’m gonna try to do DIY first since I’m just trying to catch 2 plecos 😂😂 This could come in handy if it’s a recurring issue tho
  19. I might try that later but with zucchini. Haven’t fed them directly for about 2 days now so I know they’re a bit hungry.
  20. I did notice that my plecos were less skittish when im feeding with zucchini vs. Algae wafers. I can put my whole face close to the tank and they won’t budge. Maybe I’ll try to put the zucchini inside the net and leave it underwater before lights out. I don’t mind moving hardscape but I’m trying to around it since I have some big pieces in there I feel like it would also stress out the other fish.
  21. Is there a way to catch a pleco that only comes out at night and hides whenever you approach the tank? I’m trying to do this without removing all my hard scape because I have some really big pieces of rock and driftwood that I’d rather not disturb.
  22. Thanks! No secrets here but one thing I would advice is get a light that you can dim so that if algae issues appear you can easily reduce the light. Also patience and tons of research 😁 A pair will do fine in a 20 long but like other fish, they’d appreciate the extra space if provided. I’m currently keeping 5 pairs (not breeding pairs just 5m 5f) in my 40 breeder which I’m planning to move to my 60 breeder. Just don’t have time and still waiting on the stand to be built but I’m hoping I can move them soon.
  23. Then you need to raise them higher or reduce the amount of light. You mentioned you had three, maybe try running two instead. Another option is to use lids that are more opaque to lessen the light getting in the tank.
  24. Raising the lights will lower the PAR values on substrate and will reduce algae issues. Reducing the time the light is on also helps.
  25. You could but we won’t really know unless they put PAR values on the light or we check ourselves with a PAR meter. I’ve grown plants with regular cfl bulbs as well and those were just meant for indoor lighting. I would assume that lights specifically made for aquatic plants can penetrate the water better than regular lights but don’t quote me on that 😂 Do you have the lights directly on the tank lid?
