  1. Definitely 100% female. you’ve had snoopy for awhile and by now, if she is a male, she should’ve had the long extensions on her caudal fin. Her breeding tube also shows that she’s female. here’s a photo of my male I took december 15 and here he is a month after. Photo taken 01/15
  2. Surprised that the eggs are still here. Thought they’d disappear overnight. Some shots of mom and dad guarding the eggs Also tried something random yesterday. I covered the back of the tank leaving 1/4 uncovered for a bit of light and the swords didn’t disappoint
  3. Picked out a spot They’ve been going around the tank for hours and finally decided on a small rock in the front. Ramshorn snail trying to sneak in 😂 I doubt that their first spawn will survive but I’m still hopeful 🤞🏻
  4. I have a pair in my 40 breeder and they’re doing amazing. They’ve actually started eating pellets regularly too so that’s a plus. They do get aggressive with colorful fish tho cause the male would always attack my most colorful female betta but not to the point where she gets injured. If you have enough caves and hiding spots you can do 2 pairs in a 10g easily.
  5. I totally agree! Just some patience, good food and stable water, and they'll color up. It sucks that they're not as popular cause of how they look when younger.
  6. Got some sera o nip spirulina tabs that attach to the glass. I’ve been avoiding them recently because they changed their formula and the fish aren’t as excited to eat them. The tab did last longer than when I was feeding them the old formula. Hopefully there’s still some of the old formula out there available. If anyone uses this brand and happens to know where I can get the old formula, I’d appreciate if you can point me to the right direction 🙏🏻
  7. Second pic (bigger fish) is definitely a male. The smaller fish could be a female cause of the anal and dorsal fin but the shape of the face seems male to me. Grow it out some more and observe if the fins will get pointier.
  8. You'd definitely need two for a 2' wide tank. I'd get the lights the same length as the tank. Are you gonna dose co2?
  9. Doing two 24" will leave you with a dead spot in the middle which is fine if your 75g has a brace in the middle. If you're using a rimless tank without any brace then better to do a 48". The middle part will still be lit due to the spread but not as well as having a 48" light. One more thing that I like about having a 48" light is that you have less things to plugin and less things to worry about setting up (timer and app if applicable). I also prefer not to take the attention away from the tank and having one light just looks more aesthetically pleasing.
  10. New light arrived today! I got a Week Aqua P900 pro. Definitely brighter than my previous but the app is really confusing to use. also tanks current state as of 01/06 Plants are growing but yet to fill in the middle back. Hopefully this light helps the plants grow quicker.
  11. I'd say she's 99.9% female and if I'm correct, you have a really nice looking one. I've kept females that looked like actual males except for the face shape. My female doesn't have trailers and I've been looking everywhere for a nicer looking one My staple is Northfin krill, north fin community, north fin bug pellets and hikari vibra bites mixed in together and fed to them and my other fish twice a day. I feed them frozen food twice a week, sometimes three. I switch between spirulina enhanced brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and bloodworms. I also give them frozen daphnia every other day but that's mostly for the nano fish in the tank with them.
  12. Hello. I’ve kept and bred Bolivians before and I think snoopy is a female. I’m not an expert but I’ve been 99.9% accurate over the ones I’ve bought and kept. I’ve also kept females with longer and pointy fins. I learned to go by the face and shape of the body. It’s really difficult to tell when they’re young but once you get the hang of it you’ll be able to see the differences quicker. Once they reach sexual maturity you can really tell the difference. Here’s my current pair for reference and also a picture of just the male. You can see that Snoopy’s face shape is much closer to my female.
  13. Bolivian ram pair are preparing to spawn what my male looked like when I got him december 13 Same male pic taken today 01/05
  14. also forgot to include that I have added some kohaku swords before Christmas. I added 2 males and 3 females to the tank. These came from my friend who took his tank down due to personal reasons. Thank you! Great to be here 😁
  15. Pool filter sand from ace hardware has a nice color to it.
  16. Took a break from scaping when the pandemic happened. Took two neglected turtles in and then it outgrew the 20g long, luckily I have a friend who has a huge pond that wanted turtles. 11/21 20 long scaped with the OG dither fish still in the tank. Hardscape was just some leftover I had from a previous setup which wasn’t a lot cause I gave most of them away. I also put a black piece of corrugated board in between the sand and aquasoil because I had big cories at this time and I knew they’d be mixing the substrates. Cories started spawning nonstop. Eggs were everywhere but most of them were eaten by the guppies or danios 11/27 Roommate felt bad about the rocks being incomplete so he took me to a fish store and bought some more dragon stone. I had all the rocks in front cause i didn’t wanna disturb the stem plants in the back 12/05 Found a super cheap 40 breeder with stand. Grabbed the tank and moved all the fish from the 20 long (at this point the OG fish; cories, guppies and danios) have been rehomed. I opted for all sand but I do have some aquasoil in media bags with some root tabs underneath the sand. 12/14 Tanks current state. Some plants have grown fish are looking better [*]low tech no co2 tank [*]liquid ferts dosed once or twice per week [*]light on 10 hours a day Plants: [*]anubias nana petite [*]some random anubias that was on sale at petsmart [*]El Niño fern [*]windelov Java fern [*]buce [*]hygro pinnatifida [*]bunch of rotala (h’ra, ceylon, wallichi and bonsai) [*]ludwigia palustris and some super red variant [*]ammania gracilis [*]some big leaf hygro which I’m assuming is corymbosa [*]hydrocotyle for carpet [*]rotala bonsai -myrio green Fish: [*]pair of Bolivian rams [*]lampeye killi [*]furcata rainbow [*]ember tetra [*]female bettas [*]ramshorn and mystery snail [*]Pygmy Cories (pygmaeus and habrosus) Will update this thread when the plants have finally started growing. Some stems are already showing signs of new growth but tank still needs more time.
  17. If you really want him/her to survive you can put it in a betta cup or similar with some tank water. Any small container will do but if not, then another meal for the assassins 😋
