  1. yes yes yes.. "Angelfish and rams should not go together," but I never had any instances with them both, and plus I have midnights so twice more aggression but only saw aggression during spawning, so other than that I believe that they could 😄
  2. I feed bloodworms every other day with other varieties of foods, I never had issues with rams bloating up but however, I do have instances where my angelfish have bloated from bloodworms.
  3. scrap the rummy nose they need at least a 3foot tank, hillstream loach usually need cooler water then bettas, otos should do fine just grow enough biolfilm for them to eat, kuhli loachs could work but thats if you choose between corys, I dont recommend any corydora species except pygmy.
  4. Clouded archers are brackish so they must be kept in brackish water, small scale are true freshwater and smaller then the clouded. Clouded(8-9inches) Small(6inches). Your best shot is to keep small scale as both lungfish and small scale can be kept in freshwater.
  5. Every website that sells fish has pros and cons, a tip I would give is to search up reviews of the website on forums or Reddit posts and see how people rate it. Most of the time websites selling fish are always great, I have ordered fish multiple times and never got a DOA, there are DOAs for some people's cases but know that refund is always there. A con is that the fish might not be well suited to your water, assuming you use your tap, some fish might acclimate not well and fall apart, that's why it's always recommended to buy fish from lfs since they are more acclimated to your waters.
  6. Haha, no discus, was going to get some again after my trip. I have about 4 tanks, 2 not really worried about because both are a no filter no waterchange heavily planted tank, other hand I have a 55 decently planted with large school of cardinal, rummy, 3 midnight rams, a angelfish pair, 2 sae, and a lot of kulhis and a saltwater tank but we like to stick in freshwater😄 I have read conflicted stories about auto feeders, but I will keep an eye out for it.
  7. Hello everyone, I was going to leave for vacation for about a month and I was wondering what are some tricks and tips to keep my tanks running and well when I am gone, I have no one to watch my tanks, anything is appreciated!
  8. They eat black beard algae, hair algae extremely well, they ate most it off my vals, and I have seen them eat a quite other few as well. Got some otos with them as well haha.
  9. I won't lie they do get aggressive sometimes but not a huge lot, they are still 4-5inches and I was thinking of returning 1 back so I can just keep one full grown sae.
  10. I have 2 sae in my 55 they can tolerate up to 82 in some articles that I found and I keep my tank in 80-81 and they do great.
  11. If your going to keep a single betta with no tankmates, a 5 gallon is okay. But always shoot for bigger, a 10 gallon is sufficient for a single betta it doesn't really matter unless adding tankmates.
  12. Saltwater tank you must need an rodi unit first off, second its best to get sand specifically marine sand as it helps to speed up the cycle and helps to buffer the water. Live rock also helps to cycle tanks quicker.
  13. Dwarf snowball pleco or a clown pleco just any pleco that stays under 5 inches
  14. I personally think drip acclimating is a waste of time. I just drop and plop. The reason why I believe this is that a fish won't acclimate to your water quickly through drip acclimation. The fish would need lots of time to acclimate to your water either way and if fish could get used to water that quickly, drastic water parameter changes would have never been an issue. Even for sensitive species, rams or otocinclus, or even shrimp, I float them for 20 minutes and then drop them into the tank. Less stressful and less time wasted.
  15. Thats normal for rams in general but be aware if its gets too extreme. Looks more blueblack then midnight
  16. I also have black rams and well, they are like devils. I had two pairs in my 55 and my pair had killed off one of the female and left a male. I believe that it could come with really huge risks. I'm not sure how old your rams are but as they get older their aggression will spike. Black rams are notoriously known for being extremely aggressive and it shows, they even go after my 7inch angelfish... I would say to just stick with one of them.
  17. Rams can have very different tolerance, its different if your getting one imported or ones that have bred in the US. One, rams are not that sensitive at all, if you keep your water parameters steady and clean your fine. Temperature wise don't be too worried about it, 80-84 I have kept even up to 86 they all do great, however they burn out quickly if higher then 84 so leave it in the 80-82 range. I would be a little worried if it goes above 86 or below 80. Depending on what ram strains you get, you should be fine with 1 m and 1 f. But for my more aggressive strains my midnights I keep another dither doesn't matter what gender as a trio helps to spread aggression. Based on how a lot have been bred its nearly almost to sex them nowadays, but a common feature you can look for is, one their size obviously males or larger then female and secondly, the pink belly that some females have, it depends on what strain but for electric and midnights nearly impossible to find a pink belly. If you breed a gold and midnight, you will prob get golds/midnights, or gold/blueblack/midnight some midnight strains have 3 or 2 choices, my pair is 3 luckily.
  18. Ah thats the issue, your water hardness. Ph is not an issue at all, I have seen people hatch and raise cory fry in ph of 7.8. You might have to use distilled water or an rodi unit to make the water soft to hatch the eggs.
  19. What are your water parameters? A key reason could be that there is too much hardness in the water for the eggs to hatch
  20. Sorry to say but those are not angelfish fry, those are glo skirt tetra fry, dont get caught in a case with the glo company😄
  21. otocinclus and siamese algae eater, I have found to be the best algae eaters.
  22. Angelfish become aggressive as they mature more. As a pecking order is set and territories are going to be established. Nothing you could do much about it but just removing the eye of sight with decorations to decrease some of that aggression.
  23. I have kept rams in single, duo, trio, and group. A ram does not care if it's by itself or with others. I would however recommend if keeping a trio or a group, keep 1 male to 2 females. This will lower aggression. It is also based off of the tank size.
  24. Buenos aires tetra are a very underrated schooling fish
