My fx2 that I recently bought a month ago started losing its flow a lot out of nowhere. I could not figure out what was causing the issue so I took all the media in the filter and cleaned it throughly, took off the motor parts and cleaned it as well. Put it all back together and its still running with poor flow. There is not broken parts and nothing is clogging the input and output either, so I am kinda stumped if its something with the motor.

I can see it being used for a qt tank. Just making sure that its well aerated and water quality is pristine. In my opinion keeping it bare will be your best shot at cleaning the tank.

It is crazy to me how much of a beginner I was looking back and seeing how my tank had looked. Was a 55 gallon and man the stocking was all over the place... Surprised no one on the forum had bashed on me a while back for this 😂. But again I was beginner and now I have much more info then I did before and better skills. Now in 2024 I have more skills then I had before, still learning new things everyday, but thats what the hobby is about. My new discus tank is still pretty new I would say. A 75 gallon and started in July of 2023 and plants are still growing in but again patience is key in this hobby.

From some sources I have seen sometimes nerite snails with holes in their shells can be permanent. Not all the time this happens but I guess its one of those "rare" occasions that it can happen. All you can really do is just supplement with calcium as their diet making sure you feed them other things as well.

I keep my tanks roughly 83-84 sometimes go up to 85-86, and the plants I have that work pretty well are amazon swords and vallisneria specifically gigantica. I also have crypt wenditii in there as well but is has not grown at all.

I find that crypts tend not to do well temps above 82. However I found vals and amazons do very well in my tank that I keep around 84

No it will not work, since these fish can easily max out at 12-16 inches and need minimum at least 55 gallon and bigger, and would easily munch down on some of your tetras and endlers.

A moray eel salinity should be around 1.008 to 1.012. Some websites also state that it can be up to full marine as well.

I am already used to doing lots of wc esp with the ram and angelfish fry I have raising up right now... 6 90% wc and 10 feedings a day... Tiring but all worth it!

I was going to set up a grow-out tank for discus that I plan to get maybe next month, and I plan to get around 8 2 inch discus. Do you guys think 2 10 gallons with 4 in each tank will be a good grow out, or maybe bigger?

This is my 55-gallon planted tank, that's right no wood no rocks nothing but plants and I love the look. Can not wait for the Amazon sword to grow tall like the ones at the left they are roughly the same height as my tank now!

Hey guys so I was planning to start a discus tank again after selling my old ones off months ago and missing them. So I was thinking of doing either a 75 or a 100 based on the space I have, and I wanted to have it planted as well. But I am conflicted on what color I want the discus to be. I was either choosing 8 red melon discus, or 8 blue diamond discus, or doing 4 blue and 4 red. What do you guys think?

The swords look okay, some leaves that are dying off could be because of being introduced into a new environment, and that some of the leaves still look emersed. Second algae are going to form no matter how much lighting you put or fertilizer, what you can do is if algae is still an issue dial back on the light timer and use less fert and see if that has any changes.

Not at all cases, the highest temp a hillstream loach can go to thrive in is 79-80, and in the hobby its not to keep fish but we want them to also be thriving, and at 84 a hillstream loach will live a short but it won't thrive. I understand cory has his opinion but its also good to hear other people who have kept hillstream loach and see if it worked with them or not, not saying his opinion is invalid but its to get a bigger picture.

I'm going to be keeping discus again soon, but for my experience make sure to keep your discus hot! Not extremely hot but 82-86 with 84 being the sweet spot. Unfortunately, hillstream loach and discus will not work as the water needed for each is different, however a good replacement would be sterbai corydoras, or a bn pleco. Remember to keep the water very oxygenated with aeration! Tetras can be a bit challenging with discus, I kept rummy nose and cardinal tetras with my discus at one point, but do know that you will have to grow them up and replace them often as high heat tends to reduce their life span. Also with discus, if you are getting them young less then 4 inches, it's highly recommended to have a separate grow-out tank and grow them at least 4 inches or bigger and then introduce them into main tank as small discus tend to grow the fastest so wc and good food is highly recommended! If your having issues with nitries in a qt just do wc, there really is no reason to add plants as qt meds can harm plants.

In my case I found that mollies eat duckweed, I read some articles about it as well and some fish that are omnivores will eat duckweed when they have chance. Common fish that will eat duckweed are carp or goldfish but those aren't really community fish.

Any fish will eat a shrimp that fits in its mouth, the only "safe shrimp" fish is otocinclus. As long as you can keep cover some shrimp will live while some might get eaten.

I do not use seachem, I just mix the ro water with tap water to get the right tds for my tanks.

Not for my case, I usually never heard of sae munching down on sae. Usually its plecos or some loaches.

It rather looks like your plecos have been eating your swords. Plecos are known to eat Amazon swords thats why people usually do not keep these two together.

Guppies usually start pecking to assert dominance or curious. I recommend taking the guppies out since either way guppies and angels live in totally different water parameters.

Hey guys, I was just curious to see if anyone here is a pilot or has been one, it is really interesting to meet people who have the same hobbies. Just got my private pilot license and working my way up at 17yo! 😄

Angels are mostly middle to the top, they do occasionally go down but that's usually during feeding. Keeping it densely planted with lots of covers helps a lot. At the end of the day, it's also based on the fish's personality.
