I have a really cool substrate that I got from amazon it’s like 20 dollars if you ever want to check it out. I think your Corys will be fine as long as it’s not sharp.

Okay, thanks. I’m thinking of moving some of the gravel and creating a sand bed in the middle. The substrate is mostly rounded. There are a few with edges, but it’s coated with what ever comes on pet store gravel substrate.

I have good luck with just about any substrate I used with Corydoras and that also seems to be the general consensus in this thread:

Barbel issues are usually related to general aquarium health and the types of food fed and not so much whether it is sand or gravel.

What substrate do you have? I just got a goby and am looking at different substrates and trying to decide.
