Awesome! If you need any tips and tricks, please reach out. I love breeding bettas and I have a method that has yet to fail me 🙂

Please do share! I’d love to learn.

I’m a little sad about the Imbellis, but I’m rooting for you on this one and the Killis too.

Yeah me too… if the Killis don’t go well, I’ll probably order in a new green female B. Imbellis. Key is moving _both_ adults out once fry come free from nest.

Not enough breeding is happening. I’m going to try a thing. Zero expectations here.

Alrighty! I’m leaving light on for the B. splendens one more night.

They’re acting sort of like the deed is done…

But when I went to remove the female, she returned under the nest, and… there’s still a romantic spark… so I’ll leave them til tomorrow sometime.

I’m pretty bad at judging whether there’s eggs in the bubble nest from looking down.  🤷‍♂️

Female removed yesterday. Male continues to maintain the nest. Feeding both bettas again some now. We shall see…

Wow that's a massive bubble nest! Are they usually all that big? I've only seen KeepingFishSimple's betta videos. His seem much smaller, but maybe it's my imagination.

Still no success yet breeding B. splendens. Having another go here this weekend.

I’m using a simple Sterilite container from Dollar General. Adding floating dried oak leaves (I’m out of Catappa), and some black water extract. Set a cycled sponge in there — no air.

Remarkable response from the pair! Nice nest, and good cooperation.

Didn’t witness all of the “embracing,” but it does appear like he’s got a few eggs in the nest… 4D04967D-8C06-4AB8-948F-E81696441B06.jpeg.91469b1d4985ac2f6a14ea3882327d97.jpeg

I leave lights on dim all night. She’ll stay in probably past when I ought to pull, just to be sure they’ve really done the deed.

They hatched awful fast - with a lot of fishes i've bred it takes 3 to 7 days to get wrigglers much less free swimmers.

They’re still clinging to the bubble nest. Probably won’t be true free-swimmers until Wednesday.

Time to buy 56 betta growout tanks!  🤣

At some point they won't like each other anymore and it could become a warzone!

Alrighty! B. splendens fry begin to free-swim. Removed dad. Added green water… vinegar eels… delicate period here…
