MAC
Went to hike Mt. Mazama but 8000 feet up the trail ends with a view of this gorgeous lake. I must've had an old map. Edited September 30, 2022 by MAC

Kara C
Old woods riding pictures. My apologies on the potato camera. While preparing to significantly downsize our lives due to one "bad luck" event after another, I came across a bunch of old pictures. Better days. Back when things were hard, but we didn't have anything to lose. Now, things are harder and we have everything to lose. Filtering through these forgotten files has reminded me of who we are how we got even this far in life- pure stubborn resilience. I also found some peace and realized that I take way too many pictures of trees. Who needs a couple thousand pictures of trees and forests in Florida? No one that's who. Hahaha. 2
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
A new crepe myrtle bare root tree that I planted in winter has recently come down with 2 diseases. I resolved the one (powdery mildew) with baking soda spray, and while I did that it dropped some leaves like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. 😭 But I returned a week later to do the next treatment for cercospora with neem oil, and look what I found! 2 new sets of leaves! And when I sprayed it, it held onto all its leaves! The little guy is getting stronger! So this is how I’ve been Enjoying Nature Daily this week, by nurturing this little tree. How dormant bare root trees arrive from the Arbor Day Foundation. The bag contains 10 or 12 bare root trees. I kept 2 and gave the rest to neighbors. Tree ill. Before treatment. After: And the tree’s counterpart which was planted a few meters away: Edited July 28, 2023 by Chick-In-Of-TheSea 1

A lot of that orange discoloration has disappeared, and it is firmly holding onto its leaves, but it does have some long gaps between leaves on some branches from where it lost foliage. Every Friday morning when I take the trash out, I spray the tree leaves, over and under, with neem oil. I do this in the dark because we've had strong heat waves this summer. I'm very consistent with this treatment. And then, just this morning, I was rewarded! I went to spray the little tree, and I noticed it has a bunch of flower buds on the end of one branch! Yay tree! Go Go Go! I don't know what color the blossoms will be as this was a tree I received from a charitable donation, so updates will follow. I also gave it some miracle grow to help with the blossoming. I wear latex gloves when I work with neem oil because I believe it is a pesticide as well. I don't want to get any on my hands and then have some residue under my nails when I try to work on the shrimp tank or something. That would certainly harm the little shrimps. I also have other gloves dedicated to shrimp tank work. 1
